The movement is wonderful and sounds great, but I never
received the music box plans. Also the mounting instructions
are pretty weak for a beginner.

We love our music box but our little granddaughter lost the turn key for it. Can we re-order just the key?
would like to place this into a german beer stein with stopper wire that can protrude through the bottom. Lift up, music plays. Put down, music stops. is that possible?
hole locations? for the 18 note blue danube
BEST ANSWER: I gave this away as part of a jewelry box, but if I recall correctly, there are three holes to fasten it to your project. The first hole is on the left [you can see it on the image], the second is on the exact opposite side, and I believe the third is on top in the middle. I am not exactly sure, but depending on what you are making, it should be easy to fasten.

Is a stopper pin included?
BEST ANSWER: Yes. You can see it in the image, but it is much longer than the image shows and is used so that when the lid closes, the music will stop.

Where can I purchase music box keys?
I want to replace a movement that has the stopper wire run thru a rod that projects out the bottom. When the box is set down it plays. Lift up and it stops. Will this movement work with this rod arrangement?
BEST ANSWER: The downward pressure stops the music so to do what you are saying, you would need lifting the box to create a downward pressure on the lever [i.e. a weight] or mount the musical feature upside down if possible...maybe a backer board with four posts or long screws?

Can we get additional songs on this musical movement?
BEST ANSWER: No. There is only one song.. and do not make the music box too big. The bigger it is the louder the music gets. Thw music box shouldnt be much bigger than the movemment..ideally hushing the listener. Not waking them

Am I able to attach it inside to the top of the music box lid and I can wind it that way?
BEST ANSWER: In order to attach to top a hole would have to be made to attach key winder. Normally movement would attach to bottom or side with hole for winding on area movement is attached to. Then the stop/start wire would be bent to start music when lid is raised and stop when lid is lowered. Hope this helps. The movement plays beautiful music and is reasonably priced,

Will you be carrying anymore of a music selection in these? I have made 3 music boxes so far and have people wanting different selections
I’ve discovered some music boxes that I made roughly 40 years ago. The musical mechanisms no longer work. They’re Sankyo and look like this one. I’m wondering if the stop lever is in the same position? Where can I find dimensions for this mechanism?
BEST ANSWER: Dimensions are approximately the same as the old Swiss Reuge movements which are no longer available. Plans were available in the old Woodsmith catalogues. Appears the plans supplied are for the larger movement. Best bet is to purchase one movement and go from there. The retrofit will probably work with some adjustment.

I don't understand the purpose for the stopper wire. Is it used to stop the music when the box lid is closed, and allow the music to start when the box is opened?
BEST ANSWER: Yes, it does stop the music by stopping the movement. The wire can be bent if necessary. The idea is the movement is connected to the bottom of a box, and the lid, when closed will depress the wire and stop the music.
