It would be helpful if, in the product description, you'd give us the range of diameters, especially max diameter, for which this clamp will work? Thanks.
BEST ANSWER: It is fairly common to assume that a 4 1/2 inch clamp will safely clamp a 4 1/2" hose area. On the small size you can run it down very small but this then leaves a lot of clampmetal sticking out which can be dangerous. These clamps work great on material size of 3" to 4 1/2".
