I have a small area for woodworking so I decided to build roll around carts/ benches for my tools. These are a good value for those carts. When a tool such as the router or planer is not being used, I can easily move it aside.

Excellent casters
Thirty years ago I made work benches out of actual bowling alley pieces cut my specifications. I have never been able to move them without significant effort. I purchased and installed Rockler heavy duty polyurethane casters and now move my work benches with ease.

Wheels that are easy to roll and they lock.
These are vey nice wheels. Softer rubber, they roll easily and lock up great. I put them on a large six foot chop saw cabinet. It rolls great with just one person. When.I lock two of the wheels it is rock soliid and doesn’t move at all. I’m very impressed with this product.

These are the best...
I love the way these glide across the shop floor and I have complete confidence in the support they are providing on my new tool cart that I built. To save space I built a portable cart that holds my bench top jointer, planer, and my sliding miter saw.

Smooth-rolling, firm rotation lock and roll lock
I used two that castor and two that don't. This makes it much easier to back the tool stand away from the wall and easier to steer. The lock to prevent the castor from rotating (about its vertical axis) is very solid and positive. I mounted the thickness planer so that the wood feeds through perpendicularly to the wheels that don't castor and don't lock. This helps steady the tool with only two of the four wheels locked. I think it will be fine without also having legs to stand on in use.
I attached each with a 5/16th inch bolts, two washers, one lock-washer, and a nut. The bolts fit with the nut at the bottom on the non-castering wheels, but I had to have the bolt sticking up on the castered wheels. Lag screws would be a cleaner choice, if you have room in the wood above for long enough ones.
Suggestion for Woodcraft: add a lock to the wheel that doesn't caster.

does 1 pair equal a set of 4?
BEST ANSWER: To get four total wheels all the same a customer needs to order 2 sets, i.e. put a 2 in the quantity box, OR two different item numbers each with a quantity of 1

Do the wheels get a flat spot on them if they sit in one place for very long?
BEST ANSWER: So far mine have not. However one of my wheels came to me with a rather large dent that took awhile to form back. To of the wheels locking mechanisms where broke. Great customer service with Rockler. They quickly shipped me 2 new wheels.

What is the height of the caster from the floor to the top of the mounting plate?
Does the load rating mean each caster can handles 265 pounds? In that case a set of 4 could over 1000 pounds.
BEST ANSWER: No, it does not! Be wary about loads. With 1000 lbs of total load, the load has to be shared perfectly evenly among the castors for each one to carry 250 lbs. If the center of gravity of the cart is not exactly in the center of the cart (above the intersection of the diagonal lines between casters, it won't be evenly distributed. Worse, If one rolls up onto a carpet or over a power cord or something, and the others don't, the load is supported by two castors, with a third having a small load and the fourth being off the floor. If you pick one end up, some of the load shifts to the other end.

Do these roll quietly? I've had others (rubber) which metal parts clink and clank together creating a racket.
BEST ANSWER: They roll both smoothly and quietly across the floor. I built a platform using these wheels to first move a piano over a wood floor, then mounted a table saw with an extension wing on it to move the saw in my shop. The concrete garage floor has some rough areas, but these wheels make the moving job effortless.

What is the clearance required for these to swivel 360 degrees when mounted under the base of a cabinet?
BEST ANSWER: The lock tab extends 2.5 inches from the edge of the baseplate but that is a flat edge. Another half inch or so from any facing would allow the flat edge to rotate cleanly. So I think you mean 3 inches on all four sides of the baseplate would allow it to rotate around in all directions. You won’t be able to press the lock tab though if you enclose it on all sides. Hope that helps.

are the brakes solely for stopping.. or do they lock into place to keep the wheel stopped, during further movement from machine vibration? I want to use under a pedestal for washer and dryer installation, but need them to be stable thru the machine cycles. thanks,
BEST ANSWER: I have purchased 4 locking casters and they lock completely, will not roll until you unlock them. I think they would work fine for your application.

Are these non-marring wheels suitable for a finished wood floor?
BEST ANSWER: I do not believe they would mark a finished wood floor. I have these casters on my workbench on a semi finished cement floor and I have never noticed any kind of marks.

Has anyone used these to support their tablesaw? I have a Powermatic 64 on a Shop Fox mobile base. The Shop Fox wheels rubber separated from the wheel center. The mounting bolt dimensions are very close to what I have so I can work with that. I do believe these wheels will take the weight
BEST ANSWER: I built a table saw station using (4) locking and (2) swivel to support my contractor saw with a 48" wing and overhead dust collector on one side and a sliding table attachment on the other. Very happy with the casters. Will be buying another set like these for Miter Saw Station soon

Do the axles have bearings on them?
BEST ANSWER: Not to be too technical, but any mechanism that turns or rotates has a "bearing" whether explicit or not. I might guess that the intended question is do the axles have "ball bearings" on them. There are three major types of bearings for a product like this: sleeve, ball and roller. From the answers provided, I don't know what bearing type is used on this product. In my experience, the swivel is usually a ball bearing and the wheel axle is a sleeve bearing. But I can't be sure because not enough info is provided.
