Adjustable Lid Support

Item #
39419
Rating:
86% of 100

This is the lid support for a variety of applications! It is convertible since it can be installed on either horizontal or vertical, for lids or drop fronts. It is reversible to be mounted left or right, and change tension direction from lift-up to drop-down as needed.

It's adjustable: Lids or drop fronts up to 20lbs can have their tension easily adjusted using a number 4 Allen wrench. The angle opening can be set at 75 degrees or 90 degrees depending on how brackets are mounted. It's even demountable: Brackets can be mounted without the support arm attached, and the support arm can be removed! Lid or drop-front requires separate hinges.

Please see the technical downloads section for further details on lid restrictions.

I Support This Device.
Works as described but the directions can be a bit tricky. I suggest you read and look at the directions very carefully BEFORE you begin the installation. Then read them again.

Airstream Travel Trailer Mirror Cabinet Door Fix
Our Airstream cabinet opens upward and without anything to hold it open we were using our head to keep it open while we put items in or out of the cabinet. Now with this quality lid support we can have both hands free and use our head for other things! And it's finish complemented the aluminum interior of the Airstream.

Great Lid Support
Use these lid supports to replace the ones that had given out on my coffee table that doubles as a storage chest. Easy to install. These lid supports are much stronger, smoother and look nice. I'm very happy with my purchase.

Dollhouse roof attic storage
I used two of these on the roof of a large doll house for attic storage to hold roof steady at horizontal position and prevent pinching of little fingers when closing. Used on 5/8ths plywood roof half approximately 60 inches long by approximately 14 inches wide. The hinged supports worked just as advertised.

Your tech team helped me calculate the proper lid support which was a huge safety concern for me. I had formerly ordered the wrong support with Rockler and the two ladies in your customer help department were wonderful.

I ordered one for my travel trailer to hold up an upward opening cabinet door. It worked so well I ordered 6 more for all the other cabinets. It's a bit pricey but is very good quality.

I have a box with a depth of 4 1/4 inches. The lid is hinged in the back and raises to expose a small mirror on the underside. Will this support fit in a 4 1/4
inch depth and allow lid to close fully and also raise to 90 degrees?
Gary M on Jan 23, 2018
I have a 20lb box type lid that is 40x19x3. The back wall of the chest I'm building is 2" thick (comprised of a 1.375" board with a .625" inner liner for a total of 2"). It seems most of the lid stays and soft-close supports want the back wall to be 3/4-7/8" thick. Will 2 of these (left and right) work with the back board being that thick and if so does anyone know what the open angle of the lid would be, approximately?
AmericanPatriot on Apr 19, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I also had a large lid and used two of these supports. The lid can open 90 degrees if you install them correctly. I have a CAD system and had to draw them in to scale and then play games to find the correct location for the mounting holes --- sorry. I found that they would hold the lid open well, but the lid was so heavy that once it started closing you would have to use your hand to keep it from slamming. I think your lid is heavier. I like the design and quality, but a larger set would be great.
What is the minimum door height to use these?
Donna A on Apr 15, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Donna,

The arm length and maybe an additional three quarters of an inch for the bracket. I have build kitchen overhead door that was only, as my recolition has it, about eight inches.

Steve-
Would this support a lid in multiple positions,
for example, 1/2 way open, 1/4 way open or fully open?
DavidJ on Jun 22, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I have used them before, you have to make sure the lid is not so heavy it over takes the closure. This type needs a light weight lid.
Can this close past 90 degrees? The sides of my cabinet angle back 13 degrees past the hinge position so when the lid is closed it it too sits at an angle. The total travel of the lid from the open position to close is 103 degrees.
Mike D on Jun 13, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I am going by memory, (no instructions), but I believe it is designed to open 95 Deg. For a lid to close flush, your open angle will be reduced to 95 Deg. I am guessing at your question in the second sentence, it needs correcting.
what is the length fully extended?
gus D on Jan 31, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It does not open 90 deg. You have to measure centerline of pivot to centerline of bushing. The job is delivered and I no longer have info. sorry.
what is length pivot pin to pivot pin fully extended ?
