Emperor Palpatine walking cane
The mahogany turning blank was highly resistant to splitting which was important to this project.

2 x 2 stock
The 2x2 stock purchased from Rockler provided perfect legs for this console which I made for my daughter's new home. I highly recommend the purchase of this stock.

Glad to find 2x2x36 mahogany for table legs
I have searched for mahogany to replace old metal legs that were put on a wood top table made by my uncle. The top is quite heavy as it has an inlay of oak and mahogany squares. I was happy to find these at Rockler.

However, as you can see by the photo, these arrive in a rough cut condition and also have some interesting minor curves and bends as well as one crack and a pretty large dinge. As they are for 4 table legs and braces, having them more consistent in size, shape and condition would have been better, thus the 3 stars. I do think Rockler could do a better job of quality control. Also, they were shipped with no “padding” so two of the ends were dinged. If I had bought them for turning and not to be used completely as square legs, I’m sure I would not have been as concerned.
Slightly different sizes and some curve.
Rough cut and some bowing.

Bowed, warped and rough cuts.
I guess since Rockler calls these turning blanks, they probably expect that the customer will ignore the condition these blanks are in. Considering the price, I expected much better but what I got were pieces that were warped, bowed and with cutting marks. After cleanup, I expect I will end up with pieces about 1.5 x 1.5 inches.
