These two-ply veneers couple premium-grade face veneers with a second ply of the same or similar species for superior flexibility and the rich look of solid wood without the "black line." Each wood veneer sheet is 24" x 96" x 2/59" thick, is pre-sanded and will accept stains and finishes for a polished end look. These sheets are a bit thicker than many veneers and have no telegraphing or checking. The two ply veneer has a luxurious appearance, is easy to work with and is available in white ash, birch, cherry, maple, honduran mahogany, red oak, walnut and white oak.

  • Each 24" x 96" sheet is packed in a protective cylinder to ensure safe delivery.

I used the mahogany veneer for a bedside table I finished recently. Being 2-ply, it was easy to handle and did not break easily. It was VERY easy to apply to a substrate and the grain was very nice on all of the pieces. I even got a piece that was book matched towards the center of the piece of veneer, which is always a bonus for a tabletop! Very nice stuff!

The veneer is beautiful, better than the original veneer I found on Granny's old sewing machine. It came well packaged and with no blemishes at all. Great stuff.

How to apply over existing laminate?
FLETCH on Apr 24, 2015
BEST ANSWER: use wax paper between the veneer with backing sheet still on it to keep from adhering prematurely. remove backing paper from one end/keep it square to the surface to which you are applying it. Once you have that first end affixed, work your way down, removing wax paper/smoothing it out to push air in the direction you are applying the material, pulling wax paper out only as you move along the subject lam-board.
What type of glue did you use to adhere it to the plywood substrate?
A shopper on Apr 9, 2015
BEST ANSWER: You might consider using a contact adhesive, such as http://www.rockler.com/loctite-spray-adhesive
which way is the grain running (parallel to 24" dimension or parallel to 96" dimension)?
Allan C on May 17, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The veneer I received had the grain running parallel with the longer dimension.
Is veneer sold in 2 inch wide rolls?
A shopper on May 9, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Most veneers are sold in either 24" wide rolls or 48' X 96" sheets. Smaller widths are usually sold as banding and are usually 1" wide. I suppose that you could find a vendor that will custom cut veneer for your use.
How tight of a radius (perpendicular to the grain) can be expected? I would like to wrap a reproduction radio cabinet that has a 3" radius.
Michael S on Jun 10, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I used this on a flat surface and it should do fine if you go parallel to the grain. But i would not try it perpendicular to the grain. This is 2 ply and would not take well to soaking or steaming. Might want to try foil paper.
On the size of this veneer sheet, is it true 24"x 96" or is it a little bit over or under?
Derek B on May 26, 2017
BEST ANSWER: usually it is very close give or take a little bit on length and width
Can the birch veneer be painted?
hondo on Sep 25, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Enter an answer to this Yes, Birch veneer can be painted. if you are painting it with oil/acrylic based paint, please use transparent gesso (can be found in art supply stores), coat the wood (2 intermittent times) and sand down after every coat. Then paint. This will reduce the pores, ensure bonding, and allow the paint to sit well (avoiding future cracks). Regular primer will work as well.
Can the birch veneer be painted?
hondo on Sep 25, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I varnished the veneer but the manufacturer warns to put the first several coats of varnish on very sparsely so as not to desolve the glue backing. That worked ok but I would think the same would be true with painting the veneer. Be carful not to soak the veneer with paint with the first few coats otherwise the veneer may loosen. Make sense?
Can this veneer be used for a bartop?
TJ H on Apr 6, 2016
BEST ANSWER: My only concern would be durability. Bartops can take a lot of abuse and it is only veneer. Solid would be better but if you go with veneer make sure you put on several coats of a very durable polyurethane finish.
how thick is this veneer?
Dennis N on Oct 2, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The measurement is about a 16th of an inch; which is a lot better than what is on plywood at the big box stores! Would by it again!
Does this veneer bend and glue on a beveled edge or round edge ?
Thank you
Enrique N on Mar 12, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I only used this veneer on a flat surface. However, I believe it is too thick to have much flexibility. I wouldn't attempt it.
Does this sheet come in widths wider than 24"?
Mike A on Jun 15, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The Allwood Two-Ply Veneer is only available in 24" widths
Can birch veneer be stained antique walnut and still look nice ?
jeffy on Feb 17, 2017
BEST ANSWER: we were trying to match a specific cherry stain shade on existing cabinets, and it seemed to match quite well using that stain. Before I ordered it, I also ordered 49154 - WOOD IDENTIFICATION KIT 50PC and used the birch piece in there to test before I ordered the veneer. If you do woodworking, that kit won't go to waste.
can it adhere to plaster?and with what adhesive?
