Compact 2'' diameter attachment converts the rotation of an angle grinder to a random orbital pattern for incredibly smooth detail sanding.

Arbortech Contour Random Sander with Sanding Assortment

Item #
76% of 100

The Arbortech Contour Random Sander is a patented angle grinder attachment that converts the simple rotation of your grinder to a random orbital pattern, resulting in an exceptionally smoothly sanded surface. Its small 2'' diameter ultra-flexible pad is ideal for sanding deep profiles, contours and details that could previously only be sanded by hand. It has a 2-1/2'' shaft that lets the sanding head reach into deep hollows that would otherwise be impossible to reach. The ultra-flexible sanding pad molds to the shape of your surface without digging in at the edges and scratching your work. The PSA sanding discs adhere quickly to the pad. Includes 35 assorted PSA sanding discs ranging from 80 to 600-grit.

  • Molds to curved or contoured surfaces for effective detail sanding
  • Smooth, powerful random sanding action
  • No burning or digging in at the edges
  • Fits most standard 4'' or 4-1/2'' angle grinders

Woodworking Experience:
Great tool
The arbortech contour sander does a great job. I use it on bowls and dished out contours on serving boards. I would recommend it.

Woodworking Experience:
No stick adhesive
Having used two sanding pads thus far, both detached from the flexible pad in less than one minute of use. Mechanical attachment is much better.

Arbortech Contour Random Sander
Sanding pads have insufficient adhesive, and moderate pressure will cause disks to stop spinning.

Woodworking Experience:
Does a nice sanding job on contours, but tough to finesse. When trying to sand with a light touch it leaves swirls. Mist press harder for random orbit to kick in. Then you find you sandpaper grit is too heavy. Also, once you remove a disc to change to the lighter grit, the disc is done. Will not re-adhere! Going to waste a lot of discs this way.

does the contour sander fit on the mini grinder ?
Charlie N on Mar 1, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The contour sander was designed to fit any 4 or 4 1/2" angle grinder, not the arbortech mini grinder. Happy sanding!
Is this product able to sand things such as 3D graphics cut on a CNC Router?
Dennis T on Sep 17, 2016
Yes. This product will work great on sanding 3d inlays and graphics. Please keep in mind though, this is a finishing sander and it is not suited for rough / heavy sanding. The flexible pad should allow to reach difficult areas and inlays produced by the CNC machine.
Am I doing something wrong? The grinder vibrates excessively when I use this. Makes it difficult to hold for any length of time.
ron S on Jul 25, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The grinder should not be vibrating. I have never had a problem with mine. Try it in a friends grinder and if it still vibrates there may be something wrong with the product. If there is no excessive problem with his grinder there may be a problem with yours. Did you tighten it securely with a wrench? It should be tight.
