Great little latch. Used it on a jewelry box. Would be even better if it were solid brass. Steel under the brass plating is subject to corrosion, especially here in Florida. The amount of metal in the item would have made a solid brass version only slightly more expensive.
This is a poor design that can be made to work. Poor because the hook doesn't actually fit into the loop part ! and the screws are big and ugly. Not brass?! Geez, raise the price by 10c and do it right.I found a flat head brass screw that fits flush in the hook swivel hole and that makes it look far better. The loop part is worthless and ugly. I found a brass screw, cut off the head and most of the threaded end, and then inserted it into a drilled hole. This makes a nice brass post that the hook will actually hook onto. Looks great, too.Note that you can carefully bend the hook opening to latch with just the right amount of friction.
