Good value.
Hinges work great. Exactly what I expected. Screws are steel and need special care. The heads shear off easily with any kind of pressure applied even by hand.

After I read the other reviews...
After I read the other reviews that reported problems with the supplied screws I bought some set of these hinges. Then I counter-sunk the holes with a regular counter sink for wood screws so that the holes are now 7/32". This countersinking lets me use brass plated 1/2" #4 screws. Before I use visegrips to hold the head of a steel #4 one-inch screw and pre-screw the holes to ease the way for the brass-plated #4 1/2" screws. This effort works very well and the Rockler hinges work great !

I chose these for the size constraints of my project. They proved very satisfactory. By the way, no problem with the brass screws that others experienced. Coated each with paste wax and easily screwed them into the predrilled holes.

Bargain hinges, impressed
Can not complain for the price. I’m sure the expensive hinges are finer but for the small box I built (12” x 5”) they worked just fine.
Fine hinges for the couple of dollars spent. Great for small projects.

Used these on a small jewelry box and they work fine. Only gave 4 stars since they are thin metal. I wouldn't use them on a heavy object

I was apprehensive about the quality...
I was apprehensive about the quality of these considering the more than reasonable price when compared to Brusso hinges. Let's face it though, when you make a good quality box and want to market it for the $100-$150 range it's hard to add $30.00 for the hinges and remain competitive. These hinges are very good for that market. I blogged the installation process: woodworksbyjohn.blogspot.com/2013/04/enjoying-process-vs-power-tools-worth-it.html Small screws are always a concern but these are not brass, only plated so pre-screwing wasn't needed. I used a #3 Vix bit and bees wax to lubricate the threads and had no problem with breakage.

These hinges work very well for...
These hinges work very well for my small box applications. I have had zero problems with screws breaking. I do wish that the hinges were slightly more substantial but they are a very economical alternative to the high end solid brass versions.

Does this item #21141 come in a set of two?
Charles B on Apr 27, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Yes, there are two hinges and eight screws.
How long are the screws?
A shopper on Jun 4, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I am guessing 5/8". It has been over a year since I used them. I had some 3/4" brass screws that I did not use so I think the ones that came with the hinges were 5/8.
Are these hinges surface mounted of concealed?
Ted T on Mar 12, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I concealed theses hinges - google "Woodworks by John" - very good article on installing these type of hinges - don't know if you can surface mount them
