Good quality but...
These are decent hinges but if you want a very smooth opening and closing hinge these fall short. They operate stiffly and there are places in the range of motion where they become "tighter" giving them a jerky action. From the description I got the impression they were solid brass but they are brass plating over nickel plating (I think) on steel. I was able to smooth the action by filing the "barrel" section but as I removed the plating in order to oxidize the steel for an antique finish I didn't mind filing away on the barrel. My plan for an oxidized brass finish was replaced by oxidized steel using white vinegar. Still, these hinges were the best 1/2" wide hinges I could find online for the price.

Good hinges for small projects
The hinges were the perfect size for the project that I was completing. Although the finish was a bit lighter and shinier than I expected, they were still adequate for my needs.

Hinge in my jewelry box broke and I couldn't find a replacement anywhere else. My dad always shopped Rockler, so I trust they are a good company to order from.

How much do these hinges, to include the screws, weigh? I'm looking to use the 1/2 x 5/8 but data on the 1/2 x 7/8 would also be great.

BEST ANSWER: I'm not sure, but it's virtually nothing because I used them on 3 very light scrolled picture frames for each of my 3 older children. The hardest part, because they are so tiny, is installing themand I only have one hand.
How long are the screws that come with it (I want to know the minimum thickness wood I can use)?
john m on Aug 10, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The screws are 3/8" from the tip to just below the head, good luck on your project...
1/2” wide by 1.5” from outside to fold hence completely opens to 3” in brass?
