One of many uses of the mobile base in my shop.
I've used the mobile base hardware on a variety of machines in my shop. All applications have been practical and dependable.

Caster only
Would recommend this to anyone that is making their own mobile base. I bought the base kit at harbor freight and this caster from rocker. Smooth as glass moving my table saw, and now my band saw. Very happy with this caster

Heavy duty
Not having seen this lifting caster in person before ordering, I was pleasantly surprised by the heavy construction. The castor wheel is approximately 2 and 7/8 '' in diameter. The wheel yoke rides smoothly on ball bearings, and is pinned to a 1/8' steel plate. I will be using it on a three point steel stand I am welding from 10 gauge steel tubing (0.135" wall thickness). The two non swiveling rear wheels are mounted in yokes fabricated from 1/8' steel plate welded to the tubing. The rear wheels will be suspended above floor level when the castor is in the lowered position. When the castor is in the raised position the rear wheels will engage the floor and the base will be easy to maneuver. I prefer a three point lift when design permits as it is easier to guide than a four point system. A lifting castor of sufficient strength for a three point mobile base is not easy to find. Thank you, Rockler, for providing this outstanding castor.

Foot petal Caster
I had been looking for a caster that would fit on my Rikon bandsaw and this did the trick. I had already put on the Rikon mobile base that uses a handle to move it around. This works if you have space. My shop limited me from using it much and the handle always was in the way. I saw a similar saw that had a base already on it and found out Rockler sold just the single caster that I needed. Perfect fit. I had to put a block under the saw to accommodate the bracket, but it was an easy fix.

Space saver
I built a plywood cabinet the same size footprint for my Excalibur scroll saw & put 2" of concrete in bottom so it would not tip over then put 2 casters on rear, then used your castor in front. Now can easily move 200 lb. saw with ease. Thanks for such a great product.

I don't plan on using the stationary casters. When at "rest" the unit will sit fully on the ground using the four cam casters.

What is the load rating for the caster assembly (not the mobile base)?
Doug F on Mar 29, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I don't know what the official load rating of this castor is. I can state that I am using it on a three point steel stand I fabricated from 10 gauge 2" x 3" steel tubing. The two rear wheels are stationary, with this lifting castor welded to the front of the stand. A Powermatic Model 50 jointer weighing ~300 lbs. is mounted on the stand, and it swivels and rolls easily on a concrete floor.
What are the dimensions of the wheel?

BEST ANSWER: I believe it's around 3 inches. Surely, Rockler can provide a definitive answer. One point: My table saw has two feet at the back that require the front to be raised a couple of inches in order to lower their wheels to the floor. This caster didn't quite make it, so I modified it to increase the lift. Unless you can verify that you won't have a similar problem, or have machine tools that can do the heavy duty modifications, better look at a different product.
does the caster swivel?
D s on Nov 8, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes, the lifting casters do swivel. I bought three set of three (one lifting caster and two stationary wheels and one set with an extra lifting swivel caster. I used this set for my assembly table and instead of wood 2X2's I used 1/8 inch steel 2"X2" square tubing since the span on the long side of the table was 6' and the short side was 36". I used two swivel lifting casters on the one end for maneuverability. I like the Mobile Base system and can highly recommend it’s use.
I want to move my deck at camp ground not far but on grass. Any ideas?
dextor d on Sep 26, 2019
BEST ANSWER: You did not provide enough information about your deck. My use for this lift is a router table weighing about 150 pounds. It has two non-swiveling wheels on opposing corners of one end that are suspended off the floor about 1/16 of an inch. A single lift is mounted in the center of the opposite end. When the lift is depressed the castor wheel contacts the floor, locks down, and levers the cabinet up in the front. In turn, the stationary wheels are pivoted down, and into contact with the floor. The entire cabinet is then free to roll. This will work on a smooth floor. It would be a total fail on a grass surface. At the very least you would need a temporary smooth hard surface for the lift wheels to roll on. I am assuming you intend to install four of these lifts on your deck. The cheapest temporary surface that I would consider adequate would be OSB board on the grass, and underneath the wheels of the lifts. Depending on the weight of the deck, you may need a jack to lift the corners of your deck to slide the OSB board underneath the wheels. You would then need to remove the OSB board and store it out of the weather if you expect to use it again. Sorry, but with nor more detail other than the word "deck", that's the best I can do.
