Inlace Acrylester is a polyester-based material that exhibits a shimmering pearlescent quality when viewed in the light. It is available in a huge variety of colors, each with a unique pattern and remarkable visual depth. This pack includes five of our most popular colors: Ocean Mist, Molten Metal, Abalone, Inferno and Cookies & Cream. Inlace Acrylester is made from an optical grade of resin, which makes it visually superior to acrylic. It is slightly more challenging to turn, but the results are well worth it. It can be polished to a gleaming finish.

Admittedly my first attempt with Acrylic - but not a good experience
I've been turning wood pens for several months now with great results. I thought I'd try the acrylic ones to see how I like them. When they arrived, they looked good and were well packaged. I use carbide turning tools to turn with for the most part. After turning just one of these, my tools were notably duller. While turning, as I approached the finishing cuts, my round carbide blade caught one of the decorative metal looking grains in the piece, and took a large chunk out of the material and it was destroyed. I next went back and turned a wooden piece I had prepared, and it was then that I noticed my blades were not nearly as sharp as normal. Unless/until I find a better way to turn acrylic, I don't plan to use it again.
