I just started turning. This is a great set of tools. Covers everything I need to do without any useless extras. Good, sharp edges. Comfortable handles.

Straight out of the box, these...
Straight out of the box, these excellent tools were sharp enough to turn some age-hardened wood with fantastic results. The length was very confortable and I was able to teach within one day some of the basics of turning to my sons who use them weekly now.

These turning tools were a Christmas present. I used them immediately straight from the box and they performed outstanding. Comfortable to use and performed nice clean cuts.

Crown 5pc turning set
I haven't used a lath in many years, but just recently bought one. I researched many lathe tools before I bought these. You can find cheaper tools, but will suffer in quality. This is a good beginners set i.e. good variety and good quality. Their HSS is good quality and holds an edge better than some other brands that advertise as HSS.

Leave a lot to be desired.
These are ok for the price. They aren't very sharp on delivery, but in my opinion no turning tools are, except those with a replaceable carbide cutter.
This is a beginner set and as such they're much smaller than full sized tools. I don't think that this is an advantage for a beginner, as you cannot get the leverage from a short light tool that you can from a longer, heavier tool and leverage is important in turning.
Also there is no bowl gouge so this set is geared towards spindle work.
I think they're overpriced as well, but for a beginner on a budget you could do worse.

I think they should be longer, very useful.

Appeared to be a quality set. Watched quite a few tutorials and every one of the hosts worked with at least one Crown chisel. These tools cut my turning time in half.
