I was disappointed with the quality and weight of this swing latch. I purchased the Antique Brass version Note that it is "stamped metal" - - which means it is actually a very thin piece of sheet metal (it does not appear to be brass) that has been stamped to form the shape -- thus it is hollow, and very light weight. As well, its shaping is of marginal quality, and the pieces are not as straight or accurate as they should be. Also, the hole in the side catch is quite large vs. the size of the swing tongue, thus there is a significant amount of play when the catch is closed. For instance, if the catch is to hold a miniature door or lid closed, the door will rattle back and forth because the catch does not hold anywhere near tight. If you bend the swing arm or tongue to try and reduce the play, it will cause the tongue to rub on the edge of the catch hole, thus rubbing the finish off the tongue over time. The quality of this catch is not what I would consider worthy of a fine woodworking project, and I will not be using the one I purchased.
Very poor quality

I purchased the latch for a Shut the Box game I made for my granddaughter for Christmas. I hesitated to use it as it is thin stamped brass, but didn't have time to find another latch. Two days after Christmas the coil spring that keeps tension on the post of the latch came off. I have ordered a different latch. I would caution anyone to consider another latch than this one.
