The Festool 488899 kit includes a sanding plate that serves as a hard backing for the included soft DX 93 sanding pad. The plate features a central snap button for easy rotation and replacement of the pad. In addition, the hook-and-loop backing prevents the pad from shifting or rotating. In the event of wear, only the sanding pad has to be replaced, not the whole plate.
