Correct size but very tight. Oiled the pivot areas on both sides then spent periodic time trying to rotate one side vs the other. After many attempts the swivel loosened up and installed it. The chair rotates freely now.
we received our heavy duty swivels within a few days, my husband refinished our three counter chairs which were 32 years old due to the fact we had been shopping to replace these for several years but could never find the quality of our old chairs. they look beautiful!!!! The swivels our high quality, sturdy, no noise or squeaking when swiveling. WE our very happy with our purchase.
Works great. I didn't know it needed weight to turn so I thought it was defective. It wasn't. I just stood on it to get it to turn. (I needed to turn it to install it) It installed easily and now it works great! Feels sturdy and spins smoothly.
We couldn't believe we broke the connection holding the two parts of the swivel that originally came with our recliner, um, 20 years ago. Everything else about the recliner still worked perfectly and the fabric was still clean and comfy. This swivel fit perfectly and went back on with very little effort and no redrilling at all. It works as well or better than the original! (and fast shipping from Rockler!).
I replaced some 40 year old dining room chairs that have made their way to our man cave. These are more heavily made than the original equipment. I’ve read that some day they are stiff and they are. But they work great during use. I recommend them to anyone needing to replace chair swivels.
Used to replace the swivel on a 1955 Mid Century Modern chair along with springs purchased through Rockler. It is just like brand new swivels with ease.....will be back again if I find another chair that needs help!!!
much better than the cheap ones put on the original chairs
we used the swivels on 4 chairs that swivel at our kitchen counter. We custom ordered the chairs which are heavy upholstered cherry wood. I like these swivels better because the chairs don't spring back when you get out of them. They are not cheaply made as the originals that were used were. I would tell you not to worry when you order these.
I have a pair of tall bar stools that the swivels wore out. The Rockler Heavy Duty swivels were a perfect replacement - All of the mounting holes lined up perfectly. My wife was ecstatic about how smoothly they operate. The Rockler staff was great in helping me to assure that the mounting holes would work before I bought the swivels.
I replaced the swivels on my first two chairs. They worked so well that I went ahead and completed the other 2. Although it hasn't been all that long, we are hopeful their sturdiness continues form anymore years to come. Yes, I would recommend this swivel!
These swivels seem well made and stiff to turn but once attached to a seat, they turn effortlessly but with out being too loose. Great choice for my bar stools
Used this to replace original swivel in a Bed Bath Beyond bar stool that had lost its ball bearings. Original swivel was frail and had twisted such that bearings were coming out. This one much more substantial and up to the job.
I use this as as you would a lazy susan, I mount it between two 5/8" sheets of plywood about 30" Square. While making heavy cabinets, I use it as a work base makes it easier to turn, without scratching surface of my work bench. Work bench was built low to accomodate height. Cabinets weighs about 60 to 85 lbs.Easier for an old man to handle.
So easy to order and the quality of this swivel is superb. Shipping service by Rockler is excellent. I have confidence that all the items I order from Rockler is top notch.
After exhaustive research, this was a product that I wasn't sure would be exactly what needed, but it is more than expected being very sturdy. I used it to make a swivel TV stand works great.
I ordered a Heavy Duty Swivel (they didn't offer a medium or light duty) from your Torrance store. When it finally arrived, I commented to the sales personnel that it was much, much stiffer than the swivel it was replacing. But they assured me that it would free up with use in short order. That was months ago, and it's still about as stiff as the day I got it, in spite of efforts to oil it and spin it. If you want a sturdy swivel that is hard to spin, this is for you. btw, I only weigh 170 pounds; guess I'm a lightweight. Bill in Torrance
Bought this swivel to use for some 24 inch diameter turntables. Swivels were extremely tight. Had to adjust the fit in order to turn them at all. Would not purchase again.
I picked this item because of the reviews provided matched what I needed the item for. The reviews provided estimated weight, worked on a LazyBoyChair rocker, recliner. Safe for someone's handicap wife.

Can this be used safely hung from the ceiling? This would be used to make a laundry room hanger.

BEST ANSWER:The design of a bearing of this type requires that the two races compress the balls. Hanging this one from the ceiling pulls the races apart, rendering the balls useless. Also, this swivel will turn easily if someone sits on it and uses their feet, but it will not turn easily if hung from the ceiling. I suggest you get a donut-shaped 1000lb load lazy susan bearing, mount it in a box with a hole in the bottom and suspend the rack through the hole. The bottom race sits on the box (which is attached to the ceiling) and the rack sits on the top race and extends through the hole, keeping the bearing in compression. The lazy susan bearing will turn easily.

BEST ANSWER:I have used a number of these and I would not consider it weather proof, it is a great heavy duty swivel but it has exposed rotating faces and is not coated or sealed to keep out weather, still its a great product, if I needed it to be weather proof I think I would make that happen with the item it was being used with.

BEST ANSWER:Not sure what you mean? To get it to turn a quarter before the install? If that's what you mean use a flat tip scew driver into the top hole and catch the side of the bottom edge and push should give you what you need to attach one end

Yes they spin all the way around 360 degrees. They spin better as more weight is applied. Found them to be a bit stiff and hard to spin when we first got them, but once we installed with the weight they spun freely and easily. A bit noisy, but for the cost...
BEST ANSWER:We bought this item from Rockler for repair of some kitchen stools, and it works wonderful, even with 250 lb person sitting on them. I would think that it would work just as wonderful if you attached it to the wall to hang something...Our stools move with ease. Good luck.

It would depend on how far out whatever it is your hanging, hangs out. I have used them hanging vertically on more than one project and they have worked fine.
BEST ANSWER:The swivel I bought is supporting a cabinet roughly 16 by 16 by 60 inches tall with four shelves installed for holding shoes, sweatshirts, sweaters etc. So it moves freely but not quickly. I basically rotate it around to view the side with the mirror, then rotate it back. It takes two hands to move. On a child's wagon as a turning device, you may find it overkill or not that responsive to making a wagon go aroound a corner. I would look for a book that explains how "the red-flyer" or other type of child's wagon is steered and maneuvered. Good Luck.

In a bar stool application, more than 200 pounds. For a lazy susan, it would depend on the length of the "lever" (SHELF) and how secure the bolt to wood joint was. In either case, I do not know what the design spec is.
BEST ANSWER:Yes it is. I used one to replace a worn out swivel in an old swivel rocker recliner chair a year ago. Works great. No problems at all. Highly recommend. I'm sure it would work in your application.

I'm trying to replace a 6 - 1/2 " square base, I see this part is slotted, will that work?

BEST ANSWER:IT works good, because there are 4 screws that hold it in place. The slots as opposed to a single hole doesn't matter. I used mine on a swivel bar stool, works great

For my application this swivel was the solution to the one I was replacing. There was plenty of slot length to work for me. Hope this helps you!! Have Good Day!!!!
BEST ANSWER:Joseph - I do wish I could answer your question but I cannot. My use for this was on a simple bar stool - no springs were involved. Sorry....
