Works well in MDF.
I needed to repair the holes on an interior lazy Susan hinge where the screws came out of an MDF door panel. Just drill slow and a 1/16 deeper than the dowel and press the plastic dowel into the new hole. I did have to get creative to press it on the panel and a block of wood wasn't working as the repair panel was still on the cabinet. I ended up using a small piece of tile and a regular squeeze clamp covered with tape on both to not marr the panel. It is more sturdy now with the dowels than without.

Blum hinges didn’t include......
......the dowels necessary to mount the hinges in the predrilled pocket holes in the cabinet doors......so I had to purchase these. They did the trick.

are dowels tapped in or pressed?
A shopper on Aug 30, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Great question..... I tapped them in and got some stress cracks ...About 20% of the holes, (painted maple).... Never thought of pressing them in ....
How do you connect the two hinge pieces?
Rick W on Sep 14, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I think the hinge is one piece. All of them that I have worked with are one piece. Double check that there isn't a problem with the hinge.
these plastic dowels do you use glue as well because the screw is not tight?

I would , remove the plug, fill hole with epoxy . Then redrill the hole..

Hinge came loose. How to fix?
Phil D on Oct 5, 2019
BEST ANSWER: There are a couple of ways to fix this problem...both are easy: purchase a hinge dowel repair kit and insert the plastic sleeves into the holes where screws are used to secure the hinge to the door. If that does not work, you can drill out the holes to either a 1/4” or 5/16” and glue in a small
1/4 or 5/16” wooden dowel length. Carefully trim the dowels flush with the door. You can now replace the hinge and screw into place. Good luck!
Will this work in a 1/4-1/2 “ thick mdf cabinet base?
Manny S on May 22, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Hinge dowels require a minimum depth of 3/8 inch to install.
Just ordered corner pie hinge #26845 to replace older Salice hinges, but the old set had built in dowels. Will this work for the new set ?
Rogelio G on Mar 11, 2016
BEST ANSWER: These hinges are excellent replacements for the Salice hinges, but you will need to also purchase the plastic dowel insert kit, number 7 33175 46577 9, Hinge Dowel PK/8. This kit's plastic dowels easily fit the existing holes for the Saline Hinge and has enough dowels to use in the repair of two cabinet doors.
I just got my order and there are no installation insteuctions. Where can I get installation instuction?
Steven C on Feb 21, 2020
Somewhat over ten years ago I bought some cabinet doors from home depot. The hinges attachet to the door with inserts into a 3/8 MOL hole, and the screw was actually a cam that expanded the insert. The hole measures 0.385 inches. This is about 9.77 mm. Is there an insert that I can use to replace the older style insert?
