Great!!!!
Nice little lock. Easy install. Will be buying another one for another project. Decent quality and a good price. Little locks like this are hard to find. This one is nice.

Great lock easy to install
The quality of this lock is really good. Snaps to lock and unlock. Parts are consistent and top and bottom plates use the same 13/32 router bit. You can sand off the grey color to get a brass color. I dinged a star only because the keyhole is not centered causing you have to offset the lock to get the keyhole centered on your project. The below is the router bit that works perfect.

I am an intermediate woodworker and found the installation a bit challenging. I was unable to properly align the keyhole and the key then entered at an angle I didn't like. I would recommend the company include a paper template for aligning/drilling. Otherwise, take your time as there is little room for error. I was eventually able to adapt a larger hole/fitting. I love the look and it is now installed and the piece is beautiful!

Excellent lock but the color...
Overall this proved to be an excellent small lock for a small display case I built for my daughter. The quality was very good and the locking mechanism is snug and crisp.

The only issue I had with it was the color. I couldn't find hinges that were even close to the same color so I just accepted that they wouldn't match.

Nice mechinism and pretty easy to...
Nice mechinism and pretty easy to install. The price is reasonable. The width is not a standard Imperial router bit size. It is 10 mm. The finish is not a match for most hinges or other hardware.Seems it is getting harder to find any quality Full Mortise Locks and this is one of the best small locks currently available for the price.

What size router bit does this need for a perfect mortise of the plate parts? I know a smaller size will be needed for the lock body.
Slipgate on Jun 27, 2016
BEST ANSWER: 13/32" it says in the description. I tried my 3/8" router bit and it was slightly too narrow. You could fix this with a chisel but if you plan on putting these in a few boxes it would be better to just get the correct sized cutting bit and have it done in one pass. They should make these in standard sizes like 3/8" like everyone has in the router but collection!
Does the hook protrude above the plate when unlocked? I want to use the lock on a sliding lid so it mustn't protrude.
Mike Nelson on Nov 22, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The hook will be recessed when unlocked. You can mortise the plate so it should work fine
can I get another key?
A shopper on Jul 28, 2015
BEST ANSWER: If Rockler doesn't show one in the catalog just make yourself one. It's just a small triangle on the end of a rod. Rod should be available at a hardware store, then file the end.
I can see the gray finish, but what is the actual metal used on the exposed surfaces?
Elisabeth M on Jun 19, 2016
BEST ANSWER: However, it is not a funny color as the accidental LOL may lead one to believe. Just Brown or bronze.
What color is the finish?
Ranae L on Oct 6, 2015
BEST ANSWER: When I purchased this item, it came in a dark, bronze-y color. The image for the product has changed since I purchased it though. It looks like it may have changed color to something more easily matched.
hello, I need to install a locking mechanism on an antique machinist tool box. However, the door is only 1/2" thick. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated?
Wayne M on Apr 18, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I installed one of these locks on a jewelry box that was 1/2" thick and it worked fine. BUT! You got to be real careful as you do not have much room on either side. The body is less than 1/4", but not by much, the top plate was 1/4" as I recall. You also have to off set the unit some. When you go to line it up, you'll see why.

It's a nice working lock, looks good. Just take your time and use very sharp chisels. No room or error with this lock on a 1/2" piece of wood. But if i can do it, so can you.
