This combination square is everything one needs in such a tool. I have Starrett combination squares and they adjust more smoothly. But, for me, they are not sufficiently more accurate to justify the difference in price. Indeed, I believe that the iGaging square is equally accurate.
Checked it against several measuring tools of mine and found it to be right on the mark. Works smoothly. Don't have any trouble reading it with my trifocals. Love the case. Someone mentioned having to take it apart in store in the case, but mine just requires you to slide the head all the way to one end.
Absolutely dead accurate right out of the box! First tested with a o.5 mm mechanical pencil and thought "nice!" Then tested with my striking knife and there was zero deviation along the full length of the bar! VERY NICE!
This is not just an increase in price, it's an increase in quality and reliability and worth the investment. Solid feel - no wobble, easy to read the scale. They care enough to give you a case to keep it in rather than having you throw it into a tool box, so that says something, doesn't it?
The tool looked good and felt good. When cross checked for square it was dead on square. Blade slides smoothly and locks firmly in position. Would like to have source for accessories. A small piece of paint chipped off. Final judgement will be made after further use.
After several years of use on the old Rockler 12" square, which they no longer sell it suddenly went nearly 1/16th out of square. I took it back to the store and they replaced it with one of these. It appears to be of very good quality. Their customer service is first rate.
Very nice. Tested to see if it was accurate and it is. Problem with re-inserting rule into body every time. The rule catches on the hold down screw every time and is a struggle at times to get it re-inserted. Overall a good value though.
I found the ruler would jam when trying to slide it in the head piece, particularly at one end. The problem seemed to be that the slot in the ruler was not well machined. The plastic case is difficult to open, and requires that you separate the ruler from the head to use it for storage. I decided to return the unit and save up for a Starrett.
