Under stairs organizer using these hinges for the wine rack
I used these for the first time ever for a under stairs storage area. The wine rack was the hide a door. A lot of adjusting though. I'm sure it will get better with more experience with the product. The home owner loves it!

Great Product
The instructions have enough information that the installation can be relatively easily modified for custom door size applications. We created hinged bookshelves to conceal two sump pump locations.

Works Just As Advertised
I bought two sets of these hinges. I installed one as in inswing, and one as an outswing. They worked exactly as advertised, athough on the inswing door, the thickness of the door cuts in quite a bit to the width of the doorway.

The instructions are pretty good, but it is a little complicated at first.

Woodworking Experience:
Invisidoor hinges
Hinges worked great, happy with the quality. The instructions were OK, not great; they were only focused on how to use them with their pre-made bookshelf door. A simple diagram or a sentence that said something like: "Make your own custom case X" smaller than the opening" would have been handy instead of basically saying adjust these dimensions for your application.

I installed two of them in the bonus room of our house. they turned out real good. I put them in so that I would not loose the remaining attic behind the walls of the bonus rooms

I need an out swing that is NOT a flush shelving. It will also be part of a larger wall bookcase unit. Which hinge should I use?
Sue S on Feb 24, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Your bookcase unit will be the opening, so this hinge would be just fine.
I downloaded the Instructions and Assembly. My question is for an left hand in-swing door. The diagram shows the location of the bottom threshold hinge pivot point off the bookcase, can I relocate this pivot point under the bookcase, assuming everything swings openly, or am I missing something? I am using a solid core door for the back of the bookcase and I want the hinge pivot point under that door.
Scottie on Aug 1, 2015
BEST ANSWER: It may be too late but, providing your door and shelves if any do not bind on the hinge side when you open it you should be fine putting the hinge under the door.
Is there a mechanism that allows the book case to close and latch like a door knob on a normal door?
Josh F on May 18, 2015
BEST ANSWER: There is a catch that mounts on the bottom of the door but it's not a handle. You could adapt a handle but that would defeat the process of the door being an invisible door.
building a hidden bookcase 42 inches in width and 84 inches in height and 12 inches in depth will these hinges accommodate this size cabinet?
Cliff H on May 26, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Hi, I just built one about that size with a mirror on the back and yes they can handle it!! They are super duty and smooth. as long as your door is built well and doesn't "rack". Follow directions closely though!
What is the load rating for the hindge?
A shopper on Apr 10, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I have not build my door yet but, Rockler says it will hold 300 pounds in addition to the weight of the door. From the looks of the hardware it should do just that.
I have a closet that has a traditional inswing door and facing on it. I like to keep the existing framing. However, can I remove the door, build a bookcase to replace it with and still use thefacing and fram?
Slider on Jul 24, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes, but it will be a little complicated. You'll likely need to remove the door "stops" from the middle of the door jamb, and also add additional trim to the edges of the book case once it is in place as there will be a wide gap (the deeper the bookshelf the wider the gap) between the edge of the bookshelf and the existing door jamb. Hope this helps...
Do this hinge kit have to used with the invisidoor bookshelf or can I use a custom made bookshelf?
Richard L on Feb 12, 2017
BEST ANSWER: This hardware can be used on a bookcase of your own design. That is what I did.
is there a drawing on how to install the pivot hinge?
A shopper on Sep 2, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I purchased an InvisiDoor Pivot Door hardware kit, but I have not installed the hardware yet (finish framing must be installed first). The hardware does include installation instructions. I wouldn't describe the instructions as a drawing. The instructions are photos with inserted text. The entire instruction set comprises most of 3-1/2 pages of text and photos.
I have a 13 inch bookcase I want to make into a door. It is 4 foot wide by 3 feet high. Is the pivot hinge strong another to hold the door?
Chris M on Apr 12, 2018
BEST ANSWER: It for sure is strong enough!
Am I correct in saying that this would work for French doors?
Mario S on Mar 14, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes. You would be wise to custom design the application and all of its operating components prior to getting started though. The hinge kits only come with instructions for single door installation.
The door I want to replace swings inward. Can you use this for an inward swinging door or do I have to change it? I'm pretty sure code says bedroom doors have to open inward.
Godfollower on Aug 9, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The InvisiDoor hdwr can be configured to swing inward or outward. The installation instructions are easy to read and follow. The instructions call for making a mock-up of the intended installation and I would second that recommendation (cabinet swing clearance issues are identified and or verified).
can this be installed in a room with a slate floor?
Thomas C on Oct 12, 2018
BEST ANSWER: It is designed for installation in a wood floor. However, if you have a way to safely drill through the slate you could possibly use the provided screws - if there is a wood subfloor and the screws are long enough. Alternatively, you could carefully grind out a section of tile and patch in a wooden piece that the hardware can mount to. The bottom piece is well concealed under the bookcase so you would likely never see it. Last option would be to epoxy the hardware to the slate which I would only recommend if you are making a smallish bookcase
I don’t see anything on top and bottom clearance?
King John on May 9, 2018
BEST ANSWER: We installed this bookcase door with 1/4" clearance at top and 3/8" at bottom; it was on a hardwood floor; with carpet you might need to make adjustments.
is invisidoor hinge suitable for trap door application ?
Nelson D on Apr 22, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Not really... The hinge relies on gravity to keep the pin in, if your tolerance is tight you could possibly get away using it. I have used this hinge to build secret bookcase doors and have found the quality is great.
how far will the door swing in or out? 90 degrees 180 degrees
Bob B on Dec 18, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The rotation of the bookcase door on its pivot hinge is not limited by the hardware itself. The thickness of the bookcase door and the clearance provided between the bookcase door and the adjacent door frame/wall will dictate how far the bookcase door will swing open.

I also have purchased the bi-fold version of the invisi-door. It of course is limited by its bi-fold door configuration, but the same constraints apply to the bi-fold component nearest the door frame.
How much weight will the hinge handle ?
A shopper on May 14, 2015
BEST ANSWER: 250 lbs.
How much clearance do you need so the door will actually open?

I am making a mirror I switched g door. What type of pivot hinge would I need?

Want to install inswing bookcase door into four and one-half inch thick wall and still have it protrude seven and one-half inches into adjoining room. Will this work? Bookcase would only 30 inches wide.
Roland A on Aug 20, 2016
I'd like to use these to create a double door for a large opening closet. The closet opening is 70 inches so ideally, I'd like to create two 34.5 inch wide cabinets with one that has a center trim piece to conceal the space between them. Has anyone had experience doing this or does this seem like a reasonable application based on other peoples attempts?
