solid
very secure hold on the end of a work piece, yet does not penetrate too deeply because of the ring.. That leaves less waste wood, and reduces risk of splitting a small piece

Just what I needed...........
Up til now I've been using a Craftsman live center that just had a point. It just never felt stable, and sometimes on narrow stock it would start to split the wood. I knew it needed a cup along with the point. The MT-2 solves all my problems....Thanks, Jet.....

I needed a new center for my mini lathe

I had this live center once before with my jet mini lathe and liked it.
I now have a nova 1624II lathe, and I wanted a better one. This works nice
Anthony on Jan 17, 2019
My current lathe end does not have bearings and when turning 8" diameter x 30" long oak table legs the wood eventually wears enough I get wobble. I have other Jet tools and this looked good at a decent price.

My cone live center is causing a few splits, and this should take care of the problem.
DrJ on Jan 28, 2017
My second hand wood lathe did not have a live center which works better than the stationary center.
Richard M on Jan 26, 2017
I have a craftsman live center, but it only has a point. If I was turning small diameter stock, it would sometimes cause the wood to split. I'm hoping this center, with the cup, will solve that problem. Even on thick stock the point would continue to drive into the wood as it was turning. The cup should also help with this.

Rockler was the only game in town for this product.
the Jet company refused to fill an order on this item, Rockler gave me their number and part number in less then 45 seconds, had a choice to order then or as the customer service suggested, look at the item first online, then if it is what I needed order from the net. Not everyone would have taken the time. Thanks to Rockler they did. Will shop there again. Larry Swope, Phelan CA

Replacement for old live center on lathe (bearings going after several years). Works great; ring provides additional stability for turning projects.
Shane B on Nov 27, 2015
Tool type is what I needed. This live center has a outer ring that secures stock better than type that doesn't have this outer ring.
