Likedthe look
Liked the design. Didn't like the idea of nail parts together. I used glue and biscuit joinery. Also used rabbit and dodo techniques in drawers and partitions.
In all, results looks pretty good.

Ok plans. Better as a general reference. Recomend cutting rabbet joints for drawer dividers.

The plans themselves were decent enough, but did not include a lot of detail about how to assemble everything and keep the box square. To make the assembly of the main cabinet a little easier, I added 1/4 inch width and 1/8 inch depth to each shelf and cut a 1/8 inch dado into the sides and back to support them. By changing the lid to a frame and panel, I was able to put a sizable mirror underneath and a decorative accent on top. Adding dividers and coating the drawers with Suede-Tex made them a little more useful for small jewelry pieces.

Simple, straight forward, easily modified to make it "your own". My daughter-in-law loves it.

I used this plan as a base for building a gift for my Mom's 70th birthday. The plan includes a cut list, patterns for cutting out the decorative base, assembly instructions with pictures, and a large parts layout diagram. The plan calls for using mahogany stock and a sheet of mahogany plywood, but I used walnut stock and birch plywood. Also, the plan assumes mostly butt joints and finishing nails, but I modified the plans slightly to use miter joints and biscuits. I would recommend this plan to anyone wanting to build a jewelry chest as it's easily modified to suit your needs (and Mom loved the final product !).

Plans are geared more for a beginner to intermediate woodworker. I changed some processes, like made dovetail drawers instead of the butt joints called for. Overall a good project for someone with intermediate skills.

No patterns
This is not patterns except for the legs. You have to measure and cut everything that is plywood. I was under the impression that it
Was all patterns so you could transfer them to the board with no measuring I would not recommend this to anyone else.

Needs to be updated
All of the dimensions are there, plus the full size plans, however I did not realize how old the design is. It needs an update.

Poor directions
No clear directions on attaching the top and drawer base to bottom. The way shown the top overlaps the back and directed, you can't open top and sides at same time as shown in picture. Not happy.

I have been a customer of Rockler for many years and have always been pleased with their products and service. $10 for a plan that suggests you build a piece of mahogany furniture with nails. Half inch mahogany doesn't seem to exist in my part of the country. About all you get is a good picture of a project you can develop on your own.

I have not made this project yet. However, I plan on making three of these chests. One for each of my granddaughters. Just waiting for them to get a bit older so they will have a use for a jewelry chest. I liked the looks of this chest, and the plan price seemed fair.

Has anyone built this before? What type of joinery is used and how hard is the construction. Not really much of a description.
BigBlueWoodshop on Nov 9, 2016
BEST ANSWER: this is not a hard piece to build. Just simple joints, such as for your drawers i used dovetail joints even though the drawers are small it still looks good and as always are strong. If you not use to making that type of joint you could always use finger joints. The rest of the case is just as simple. Just search around the net on different of joints for what ever part you are working on. It's a great little project to practice your joinery on, i think you'll find that you can do more than you think by just doing a little research.

Is this really 39" high and 19" wide??
gerald p on Aug 30, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes it is, but you can make it taller or shorter by the length of the legs. It was fun to build
Are the plans paper or cardboard?
David T on Aug 22, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Plans are paper. Good set of directions and you can modify plans if you want to. Example I installed glass fronts for the door in a "rain pattern". Jewelry chest came out beautiful. Hope this helps you as it was a fun project.
is there a plan for a wall mounted jewelry cabinet?
bill m on Jun 6, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I haven't found one but i i've not been looking for one. This plan is great here but i scaled it up just a little because it was just to small for the space it was going in.
I have a jewelry armoire and one of the knobs got broken in a move. do you sell small knobs?
marsha l on Feb 12, 2018
BEST ANSWER: You can go on our web site and type in knobs and pulls in the search box. We do not classify them as small but you can at least narrow the search by looking at the finish you want.
Bought these plans several years ago. Have now built it but have misplaced the jewelry holders and drawer liners. Is the a list or part numbers to reorder these things?
susan F on May 28, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I bought most of those things at Hobby Lobby.
