Alternative Way to hold lock in a small door
Good way to lock and stop a swing cabinet door from opening. Strong to hold it shut. I used it on the shutter project, also on another project for a custom Mantel with a face that would open for a customer request
Made custom louvres and had to find a way to lock them with a way to give on a pull motion
Close shut and no wind draft can open them customers where happy

I bought the double-wide Low Profile...
I bought the double-wide Low Profile Magnetic Catch (26542) to solve a problem. I built two pie-cut corner cabinets with bi-fold doors (76" and 30" high). The outer door (of each cabinet) is able to torque the inner door about an 1/8" at the top corner where the two doors meet, pulling the inner door from the face frame, and ruining the reveal line of the outer door. I used the catch to hold the inner door to the face frame. For this purpose it does its job well. My objection to this catch is that the strike plate uses round head screws rather than counter-sunk flush-mounted screws. These screws result in the strike plates being higher than necessary in order to provide clearance for the screw heads to not interfere with the catch proper. While this set-up may make marking the pilot holes easier, you must also ensure that you have the strike plate low enough to allow clearance from the catch. Five dollars seems a bit spendy for the quality of this latch, but as it is complete with screws, you can grab the package and avoid the search for the 'missing' hardware.

Not a very good product.
This set I'd a little narrow for two doors and the main magnet is not very secure since it depends on the power of the magnetic itself to hold it in place. Do not slam the doors for sure.

I install one double magnet on...
I install one double magnet on the top of one door and, on another cabinet, on the bottom. I put the door handle in the middle or 1/3 high on the door.Every time I open the door, there is a twist on the door. Now my door is twisted. I had custom made cabinet out of birch wood.Next time, I will put single magnet at the top and another at the bottom. If I could put the magnet in the middle or just behind the handle, I guess it would be better.

Poor Design
The single centered screw attachment with grommets is a poor design. The magnets rotate around the screw, there is no way to tighten the assembly to prevent this from happening.

What is the third metal piece with the double door catch? The screw holes do not match those in the magnet piece.
Bob Miles on Dec 21, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The package contains one long magnet and two shorter metal plates. This allows the plates to be mounted on different doors as an option. The holes in the magnet do not need to align with the holes in the metal plates. The plates and magnets are not co-planar when mounted; they are offset 90 degrees such that the edge of the magnet contacts the plates.
Can the magnet be painted?
a d on Feb 25, 2020
BEST ANSWER: They can be painted but will reduce if not eliminate effectiveness depending on strength of magnet and amount of paint.
