What? A Sewing Machine?
I am building a rather elaborate sewing cabinet. The machine will be lowered into the cabinet when not in use by pressing down on it with enough force to overcome the lift of two gas springs. I needed a means of locking the machine carrier in the down position without manipulating a separate latching mechanism. These catches fill the bill and are strong enough to perform that task. When desiring to sew, simply press down on the machine, the latches will unlock and the machine will rise to its working position.

I volunteer in a charity resale shop. This is to fix a donated armoire's right door. The left door latch works perfectly. I tried to fix this right latch but couldn't.
It matches the latch on my dresser which was broken by movers recently.

My home office project is completing. Shutters are being made for the two windows. The shutters will be hinged across the top with the bottom of the shutter lifting up towards the ceiling with these catches will hold it out of the way and make for a clear & unobstructed view from my home office windows.

How is the latch installed?
Diane H on Oct 13, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The roller is secured to a shelf inside the cabinet while the latch is screwed to the inside of the cabinet door.
What are the exact dimensions of the plastic brown strike? I need to replace that piece and am hoping this will fit my existing latch. Thank you

LOOKING FOR A LATCH THAT WILL HOLD A "SHELF" THAT IS THE UNDERSIDE OF AN END TABLE. THE SHELF WILL "CLICK" OPEN ON ONE SIDE AND DROP DOWN, (HINGED OPPOSITE SIDE), EXPOSING A HAND GUN. WILL THIS LATCH BE A GOOD FIT/ STRONG ENOUGH?
Dorald K on Mar 28, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Unfortunately I don't know. I purchased these latches to prevent everything from flying out of cupboards when we have earthquakes and we have not had a significant quake since I installed them, so I don't have a good sense of how much weight they will hold. One thing I do know is that the little brown piece the metal piece attaches to is the weak link. I lived with someone that had these latches and after a few years the brown plastic pieces started to break. I solved that by buying extra units and will just replace the brown pieces. I've had the latches installed for several years and none of them have broken so far.
