The Nova 9019 1/2'' Flexible Point Drive Center features a single spring-loaded center point that engages with the wood first, allowing you to mount your workpiece in the lathe—or remove it—while the lathe is still spinning. As you increase tailstock pressure and the outer spur ring bites into the wood, your workpiece will begin to spin. With only light pressure, your workpiece spins, but stops if you have a catch, minimizing damage to your workpiece. Increase the pressure, and the drive center will power through even the heaviest cuts. Since the multiple teeth in the spur ring spread the pressure over a larger area, the center is much less likely to cause splitting than a standard spur drive. Flexible Point Drive Centers are available in a range or sizes to best suit different spindle diameters.
