Dust Right® Dust Separator with 2-1/2'' Expandable Hose

Maximize suction and minimize the need for filter cleaning—includes our 2-1/2'' Expandable Hose, which stretches to up to 12' long!

The Rockler Dust Right® Dust Separator turns any shop vacuum with a 2-1/4'' ID outlet into a 2-stage dust extractor and chip separator. When used with most power tools and shop vacuums, the Dust Right® Separator creates a vortex effect that captures sawdust, wood chips, and other debris before it enters your vacuum, preventing loss of suction power caused by a clogged vacuum filter. The cyclonic air flow causes most wood dust particles and other materials that are heavier than air to fall into the bucket. Less debris reaching your vacuum means far less need to clean or replace the filter, a very messy task. The five-caster base makes the unit exceptionally stable and easy to maneuver around the shop. The hoses connect firmly to the in/out ports, preventing unintentional disconnections.

  • 10-gallon bucket is lightweight for easy emptying and translucent so you can monitor its contents
  • Holds twice the capacity of most competing products
  • Maximum performance can be expected when using the Dust Right® Separator in woodworking or general shop cleaning applications
  • Includes approximately 36'' of flex-form hose to connect to your shop vacuum

Package includes the Dust Right® 2-1/2'' Expandable Shop Vacuum Hose Kit for a large working range and compact storage!

The 2-1/2'' diameter hose in this kit is made of an amazingly elastic, flexible polymer that stretches from approximately 2' to 12' in length, then collapses back into a compact stack for storage. This allows you to reach most areas of your shop, without the hassle of a long, cumbersome hose. As you move closer to your shop vacuum, the suction takes up excess slack, which helps prevent tangling and tripping. Thanks to the flexibility of the hose, coupled with the included swivel connectors, it won't kink or bind. The hose weighs 30% less than previous versions, and is offered in a blue translucent color. With the two included swivel fittings, it easily connects to your shop vacuum, optional Dust Right® accessories and many dust ports. Each swivel fitting has a larger end (2-1/2'' OD), which fits into the hose, and a smaller end (2-1/4'' OD), which fits into a standard ''Shop Vac.'' Two metal hose clamps are also included for securing the fittings to the hose.

Cold Weather Tip: Cold temperatures will cause the hose to contract. If you find the hose is too tight or stiff, try warming the hose/workshop.

Works as advertised for my needs
Like this with the expandable hose as it rolls with me way better than my shop vac (older Craftsman 5hp wet/dry vac) does. With the shop vac secured in place the hose will contract the separator back to it. I put the expandable hose from vac to separator and use my vac hose from separator to tools/vac attachments. Seems mostly the fine dust makes it past the separator to vac/filter.

Woodworking Experience:
Every workshop needs this!
I own a hatchet/axe throwing facility and needed something to pickup all the splinters created daily without having to replace my filter every time . What use to require me to clean my filter once a day has now become once a week.

Make sure to not go above the filled line else it is less effective in keeping the junk out of your vac.

Just what I was seeking
I wanted something portable to fit the many tools in my garage based wood shop. Most setups were complicated and included a lot of piping, etc. This was easy to to connect to my shop vac and it works as billed: all the saw dust stays in the separator.
I added the hose holder and the hand tool adapters. I wish Rocker had them all together in one package.

Finally rigged up my cart to hold everything and easily move things around. Works great and easy to attach to a variety of tools and tool stations.

Good results for the price.
I ordered this when I started my basement remodel. As noted by Matthew F., it is not perfect but it does capture most of the sawdust. It does take up some space especially that I have it attached to a large wet vac, but it is well worth it.

Woodworking Experience:
Not as good as it should be
Been using the dust separator for about five years now and it's okay but not great. It will let the big chips and stuff fall out of the air stream but the fine dust still ends up on the vac filter. It's no where near stable on its feet. It will tip over rather easily. So much so that I made an open top cabinet for mine to sit in.

Have been looking around for dust collector, this one is one of the most economical I have found and is perfect size for my shop and is compatible with my shop vacuum.

It just makes sense to separate large stuff before it reaches the shop vac. Hopefully this will extend the working time before having to clean the filter.

What are the dimensions of the dust separator? I'd like to put it in a cabinet (no casters) with the shop vac for sound attenuation.

What are the total dimensions? I need to know if it will fit under my saw’s outfeed table.

BEST ANSWER: This 17" diameter and 30" tall with the hoses in place.
