Once you've installed upper cabinets with a pair of Rockler Multi-Props, you'll never go back to the old way, and your lower back and workmates will thank you for it, too. Each Multi-Prop features a quick-twist locking collar. Just slide the extension pole to the desired length, then twist the collar to fine-tune the cabinet height or to tighten your molding against the ceiling. Multi-Props are available in two lengths and can support up to 1,000 pounds. The shorter length is ideal for installing upper cabinets prior to setting the base cabinets in place, and can also be used in the bed of your truck to keep toolboxes and machinery from sliding around. The longer length is ideal for installing crown molding, holding plastic against the ceiling to create a dust barrier, or for installing upper cabinets that are shorter than the usual height. Both feature non-slip, pivoting pads on both ends for a firm grip and flexible positioning.

Asset to installing wall cabinets!
I have just remodeled my kitchen and dining room. It was wonderful not to strain so much to hold the wall cabinets in place.

Just What I Needed
I bought 2 of these to help with drywall installation. Haven't gotten to that point in my project yet but I've already found a couple of times that having these available has really helped with framing and other jobs. They're easy to use with 1 hand leaving the other hand to adjust things as they get clamped down.

Perfect tool for the work alone carpenter.
Used them the day after they arrived. Loved the ability to have a free hand to attach my shelf. I like the ease at which they lock and release and the overall metal strength.

Good Features
Bought two each of the shorter & longer versions--to be prepared for upcoming work. So can't speak to actual use, but the extension mechanics and the fine adjustment design appear to be very reliable. And the overall product seems very stout. My big beef, though, is that it is really disappointing to have to get two different lengths to cover the larger range of heights. I have to believe that the clever designers who came up with these could have come up with a simple three-section, telescoping version that would cover the full height range that these two sizes combine to cover.

I have 3+shelving units to install. No more waiting for an available, xtra pair of hands. One unit is to be installed over a set of stairs. A pair of these should do the trick. I can adjust each support to accommodate the uneven height. YAY!

Is one 53618 unit adequate support for cabinets?
Lenore M on Nov 25, 2016
BEST ANSWER: No, always use two. One does not provide enough stability for safe work.
Is the 38" cited for the P2 the minimum length of the bar or the least height the bottom of cabinet can safely be supported at? If the former what is the least height?
Greg G on Nov 27, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Is the minimum lenght from pad to pad, so the least height the bottom of cabinet can safely be supported at.
What is the diameter of the rod?
Ivan on Nov 28, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Inner rod 0.9" and external rod 1.2". Both rods are 1mm (0.04'') thick
What prevents these from falling over as you try to set the cabinet on top of them? Like the idea though.
Jason P on Oct 9, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Your cheater board. When you install cabinets, first install a horizontal board at the exact height of the bottom of the cabinet. Then, rest the back of the cabinet on it and place the rocker support under it.
does it have a screw jack for minute adjustments?
michael p on Oct 13, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes it does, just twist it the direction the arrows indicate to loosen or tighten
Can the height be adjusted after the load is on it, mainly raised?
Cecil M on Jul 9, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes. If the item you are holding up is not very heavy, you can just pull up the post and it will hold the height wherever you stop. If the item is quite heavy, and you are unable to do this, you can still make minor height adjustments by spinning the post in either direction. I use this feature for leveling. These are really awesome props!
Is there any reason the long prop could not be cut down a few inches so it would accommodate both over counter and over fridge cabinets?
hangingon on May 9, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I wouldn't cut the long prop as I would not want to delete the pads at either end.
