Looks odd but works well
I have used this tool with my router which is attached to a router table. Very accurate bit depth measurements are easily made. Very happy with this purchase.

Quick gage
Depth gauve is stamped with burred edges. Should have been tumbled. Nothing a fine file won't fix though.

Router depth gauge review
This a great little gauge. Very easy to use, and not only on routers (free hand or on a table), works for table saws, or circle saws for precision cuts to a particular depth; this could be used on vertical mills as well (after all, a router is just a hand held mill). I may come up with more uses yet. I'll be using this to build cabinets & more.

Great, handy tool
It is difficult to imagine how this tool could disappoint. I suppose it could be off, but I doubt it. That being said: it works beautifully. Small, simple, and idiot proof. And I know 'csuse I are one.

Available in metric?
maximillian on Nov 27, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I'm sorry, we don't offer this in metric
Do you set this to the depth of your stock? If you are working with 3/4 stock you set your router bit on the 3/4 jig setting?
Stump on Jan 13, 2019
BEST ANSWER: The stock size doesn't influence the depth of a cut the height of the router bit determines the depth that it cuts into the stock. This would be used to set the height of the router bit to cut into the stock and the bit height would be adjusted accordingly if the router was atop a template etc (depth of cut desired plus the thickness of template etc). Same theory applies whether table mounted, handheld fixed or plunge router. So 3/4" stock with a desired 7/16" slot you would use this to set your router depth to the 7/16" if you were over a template say 1/8" thick you would use the gauge to set your depth to 9/16" depth etc.
