simplex concealed hinge-black
i used the hinges for my bathroom cabinets i built for chest hieghth storage. my doors were only a couple pounds. The hinges open with a soft glide. i feel they work great in the bathroom because of the hard plastic glide insert that isn't going to be an issue with the moisture from bathing or showering.

Cheap effective hinges for small inset doors on a face frame cabinet. Rockler shipped them extremely quickly too and i am very satisfied. I just wish i had decided to use them before assembling my project to make the install easier.

What I neeed
The OEM hinge was plastic and was broken. The original was a spring loaded press fit pivot hinge. The piece covered the hole in the door and the pin pivot fit the current opening. It took about 5 min to repair the door to better than original.

What is the door clearance created by the thickness of both the bushing and the hinge plate? 3/16"? 1/8"? It seems it would create a larger gap than I want for a tight fitting cabinet door.
Peter D on Apr 12, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The dimension you stated are correct and they do look fine when it is done
how far in do you drill the bushing hole?
A shopper on Apr 20, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I drilled them 1/8 to 3/16 deeper than the length of the bushing measuring from the collar to the bottom of the bushing, to allow the hole to be deep enough to accept the bushing since I was using a standard drill bit which is angled on the tip.
They can actually be deeper than that, since the collar on the bushing sits on top of the drilled hole, and the hinge rides on the collar after it is inserted. I did not compensate for the thickness of the collar on the bushing and the hinges when making my door, but simply mortised the edge of the door to accept the hinge to allow it to be recessed.

I hope this helps.
What type drill do you use to drill pilot holes? The chuck on a regular power drill is too wide to get drill bit this close to cabinet side.
Mike C on Nov 17, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Mike,

I ran into the same problem, building and entertainment center. I drilled to holes all the way through from the opposite side and backfilled them with a plug, but did not have the top of the entertainment center in place at the time, so the plugs are all hidden on the top and cannot be seen on the bottom. If this is not the case with your project, the other option that I thought about, but did not go with was a flexible extension attached to an impact driver, and just take your time, or if that concerns you, put the flexible extension on a manual driver.
I wish I would have decided to use these hinges before I had my project assembled, whereas I could have drilled the holes prior to assembly.
I hope this helps, and good luck.
Tony
Can this be used on a 3/8” inset style cabinet door? I have face-frame cabinets. The doors are partially inset with a overlay edge.
Leah R on Jun 10, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I am not sure I exactly understand how things look from the question description, but perhaps this hinge would work if the doors were going to open inward into the cabinet. If there is an overly and the doors open out I would find it difficult to use this hinge.
Can this hinge be used on an 18"w x 6'-8"h hollow core door?
Heidi D on Jul 6, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I wouldn't recommend it. The are designed for small cabinet doors and I don't believe they could take the load of a larger door. In addition the screws that come with the kit are far to small for a door of that size.
what is the maximum weight door that this hinge can be used on?
Heidi D on Jul 6, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Any cabinet door, assuming no one builds a "cabinet" door more than 50 or 60 lbs.
