SketchList 3D is a computerized drafting program specifically designed for the needs of cabinetmakers and furniture makers. It allows you to easily manipulate three-dimensional objects on your screen in a natural, intuitive way, assembling your cabinet much the way you would in your shop. Create precisely dimensioned virtual boards with a few clicks, then drag and drop to the correct position, or copy and paste to duplicate the board on the other side. Drag corners and edges to quickly align with the overall exterior dimensions, defined at the beginning of the process. As your drafts rapidly come together, all required drawings, reports and cut lists are automatically updated in real time in the background. Joinery, hole drilling, and contours are easy to integrate. Add tenons to the ends of your boards with a few clicks, and all relevant lengths are automatically updated on the cut list. You can also create a personalized library of objects for repetitive use. Fast, flexible and easy-to-use, Sketchlist 3D will save you time, allow you and your customers to easily visualize your designs, and save money by eliminating mistakes and rework.

Best Thing Ive Done Yet
I have turned down jobs before because I didn't want to figure all the material and pricing for the customer to tell me they changed their mind. Now I am excited to draw them a 3d image and email it to them with a price. I only had the trial software for a week and I decided to purchase the pro version. It can be a little slow and VERY confusing looking at first, but its honestly more simple than you might think. The best part is every time I needed a help in an area, Dave was always prompt to help me. I messaged him one morning about a problem and he made a video and sent it to my email by lunch that day.

Great Product to design with
I really like this product. I design and build furniture and small wood items on the side. I hope to make into a full time business someday. After I have printed everything off I know my design is going to work perfectly. The only thing I do wish is that the upgrades would be automated or at least scheduled. My version will tell me there is an upgrade but how you get to it I still have not figured out.

Meredith Bay Furniture Company
Own and operate my own hand crafted furniture store in Meredith, NH. Have been using this software now for 2 years. It is very easy to use then others I have tried. The 3D renderings generate a lot of sales, making it easier for the customer to see the piece. Dave is great for any technical issues that arise. I've tried other software in the past, they are too complicated and hard to use, I don't want to design a Rocket Ship, just a piece of furniture. Sketchlist 3D is designed for furniture and cabinetry, really like it! Lou Farkas Meredith Bay Furniture

Great Support
Great Product. I have been using it for a few years. It has saved me time and product. I have been able to figure out almost everything I needed to know by trial and error. When I needed help, SketchList made it very easy. They were always easy to contact and very quick to respond. They have many tutorial videos to help you learn. Great Company and great product for the price. I have used many drawing programs and I haven't found a better one to help in my shop.

If you are a serious home woodworker get the shop version.
Very easy to use. Watch the videos and it will help. Having an issue with printing at the moment but nothing major. I'm sure DAVE will be helping me soon to resolve this issue. I had trouble getting the ideas out of my head and on to something I can see and alter to make perfect. Usually I just had an idea and adapted to any problems. This program helps me know all measurements and can get my project done quicker.
Only been using it for 2 weeks and this is the second project. It's a table saw router station.

Sketchlist, for Woodworkers
I have been using Sketchup for a couple of years and enjoy that it allows me to think like a woodworking hobbyist and not a CAD technician. By placing boards into an assembly then adding holes or profiles to the board is what I was looking for.
I also like the ability to preview my designs and it comes in handy when I can show my wife what I am building.

Works the same way you build
I have used different 3D software over the years but this is the best software for intuitively designing and building furniture or cabinets that I have used.

Awesome Intuitive Tool
I was doing a remodel and needed to design, cabinets, wine racks, storage, etc. I tried Google's product, but frankly, even as a long time programmer, the learning curve was immense. I simply didn't have the time to invest to master it, given the level of detail I needed to acheive.

I found Sketchlist and never looked back. The tool is designed around woodworkers, using terms, definitions and objects that are intuitive and easy to work with. I've used Sketchlist for almost two years now on other projects and it has simplified my life and saved me a ton of money not having to feed the scrap pile. The material estimating capabilites are a feature that makes it easy to buy needed materials without complicated calculations or simply guessing when you get to the wood store.

Dave and his team are extremely responsive to suggestions for feature enhancements, and issues or reasonable needs are readily addressed.

I heartily recommend this product to anyone, weeked warrior or professional wood worker.

sketchlist
Sketchlist has added the professionalism to my company I was looking for. It allows the customer to see a very clear representation of what they are getting, unlike hand drafting. It has helped me to minimize mistakes and recognize problems before being built. My work is very customized so I would say this alone is the greatest asset of sketchlist to my company, great product!

One of a kind tool
When we decided to do a total remodel of our 3 bathrooms I started looking for design software that would get me out of manual drafting for the cabinets. While looking at contenders for the job I ran into SketchList 3D and immediately ordered a trial version to play with. After a few hours of experimentation it was clear this was a one of a kind tool tailored and optimized for the woodworker. I purchased it at once and have not regretted it a bit. Totally unlike a general use CAD program SketchList offers features like material layout optimization that probably offset most if not all of the purchase price of the software by minimizing waste. Once the design was complete I took the shop drawings and started cutout confident that my measurements were accurate and consistent. Following assembly and finishing we took the carcasses up to the bathroom for installation. Our more challenging cabinet had two units that had to fit into a boxed space where there was no room for error. The cabinets slipped in with a perfect fit. My next job will be a wall of floor to ceiling bookcases and drawers and SketchList will again be among my most valuable tools. Highly recommend!

is this only for furniture made from wood? Would it work for other materials e.g. steel or any custom material? Thanks
HappyFolk on Dec 13, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The 'boards' are the basic building blocks but that is onny a term. Any material - glass, stone, metal, leather, cloth -- can be used for designs. You can even display objects like a TV or stove - and use that as a 'board'. In fact our standards database that ships with SketchList 3D Shop contains several of these objects.
can you design different shaped cabinets with this program?
Richard N on Feb 23, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes can add any shape you like - straight lines work best. But I have designed and implemented curves reception desks for example. Take a look at this the curved desk post on the Skettchlist site.

Will I be able to print a cut list with the shop version?
tonika g on May 31, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes the cut list is a standard report opened with one mouse click. It shows all assemblies and sub assemblies, sub-details {doors and drawers} cut sizes, and material type and name. Every time you change something in the design the changes are updated in the cut list.

Does the software allow you to specify the type of joinery that will hold each board together? The videos only seem to show butt joints but your boards would be the wrong length if, say you needed to insert shelves with dados.
Mickey on Nov 16, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes it does allow for different type of joinery.
Will I be able to design an oval dining table or a coffee table?
Ross W on Feb 15, 2018

Is the software good for tables, benches and other types of furniture besides cabinets?
Mark B on Nov 16, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Software extremely hard to learn. Better programs out there for free. Not worth the money, would love to get a refund but that will never happen
I purchased sketchlist in may, 2016. I was sent a sketchlist key, but I have no idea how to download and start using it. How do I download Sketchlist?
Charles K on Aug 4, 2016
BEST ANSWER: You will need to download the FREE TRIAL that is listed on the Rockler web site where you purchase the software. From here (it's been a while) I think a box pops up giving you the option of choosing whether you want to load Pro or Shop version. MAKE SURE you choose the version you purchased. You can then enter your sketchlist key.
can i install in on a tablet?
Victor F on Dec 8, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I don't know the size of your tablet display but I have it installed on a 10" screen notebook and a 15" laptop and the 10" screen is a little changing to see. This is especially true when watching tutorial videos and the instructor clicks on a screen icons or button and doesn't verbally identify that icon and the icon label is too small read.
If this a download, what happens if I get a new computer?
Richard A on Sep 21, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Save the file on your hard drive, then copy it to your new computer, or save it on a removable device such as a thumb drive.
Can this software also be used to sketch the layout of furniture in a room?
Roger M on Jan 22, 2018
Has anyone experienced problems downloading the trial version? I tried, download stalled out, would not resume, got a dialog box informing me that a "Zeuss" virus had been installed in my system. Call a number to repair and clean. Answered by party speaking "non-English" English, was quoted $199 to clean and repair computer. Told him where he and his scam could go Have tried to contact program originator, no success other than getting promotional emails espousing virtues of program, and wanting to know how I am enjoying using it. (Which I am not using it-only partially installed, won't resume installation or let me start over. All this leads up to the question--has anyone else encountered such a fiasco?
Joe M on Jun 20, 2017
what does the free trial consist of?
Jason L on May 5, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The trial is a limited version with which you gain the look and feel of the software. You can design pretty much everything but reports and turned off. Only one project is allowed at a time and the project import/export function is limited.
Is there software for small woodworking projects? I'm looking for information on making some small wood projects. I know there is different software available to install on a computer and then transfer that information to as saw that will cut out a design of your choice, but where can you find more information on this. I've had some lettering done where I pick out the font from a computer and then it transfers the design to a machine that cuts out the lettering. Thanks.
