This lock is exactly what I needed. I saw it on the website and clicked on the link(find it in a store) and found that it was available. I was thrilled. It fit perfectly. The employees were most helpful. Thank you.

Grandfather Clock Lock
This was an exact fit for a worn lock, it works great, and saved me having to modify the clock for a new type lock.

exactly what I needed
I purchased an antique secretary that had no key. I replace the old lock with the new and it works beautifully. Thanks Rick for helping me find the right stuff, without your patience and understanding I would not have ended up with the right piece.

I installed three of these locks...
I installed three of these locks on curio cabinets with very narrow stiles in the doors. The fit and finish of the units was very good with one exception. The bolt needs to be a bit longer, as it can be withdrawn into the body of the lock where it can tilt and become jammed. Problem correction on site is simply to re-align the bolt and press it back into the body slightly. The key will not overextend it, that is caused by handling during installation.

Not high quality
The lock works under no pressure. It has a design flaw where if the door is not shut 100% of the way the latch will hit the side of the grove for my lock. The key will rotate but the latch will not move in causing it to get stuck in a half way position. It works fine as long as there is no pressure on the latch well the key is being turned. So if it hits the grove just right it works fine. If it hits the side of the grove it gets stuck half way.

Needed to replace a lock on a Grandfather Clock that I had lost the key to. This lock is a near perfect match in dimensions and function to the old lock. Lock mounts on the inside of the door.

Will this fit for left + right operation please?
Frederick L on Jan 19, 2016
BEST ANSWER: If I remember correctly, the bolt throws to both left and right making it ambidextrous.
Keep in mind that most tall case clocks are hinged on the left side as you face the front of the clock, making it convenient for right hand access.
Hope this helps.
Does this lock come with screws that match the finish? If not, can you make a good suggestion of what & where to buy?
