Create sturdy, concealed bed rail connections with ease. This ingenious system incorporates threaded rod, threaded inserts and unique slotted washers to produce a strong and secure metal-to-metal connection. Hardware is not visible from the exterior of the bed frame, eliminating the need for bed bolt covers. Each set includes connectors for 4 joints - enough for 1 bed.
Bed Rail Connection System kit includes 5/16" threaded inserts, threaded rod, nuts and slotted washers for 4 bed rail joints, plus 8 wood dowels. To install, drill a 35mm (1-3/8") flat-bottom hole and perpendicular 5/8" through-hole in the bed rail, and a 17/32" hole in the bed post to house the threaded insert.
To speed installation and ensure accurate drilling, use the Rockler JIG-IT Drill Guide and 35mm Long Shank Forstner Bit for the bed rail boring. The JIG-IT sets up quickly to produce accurately placed, flat-bottom holes in the exact depth required.

Read all of the reviewsPosted November 30, 2013
I disregarded all of the reviews and thought I could make the connectors work with the tools I had on hand. Wrong! I should have believed the reviews. However, once I bought the right tools and installed this connection system it was quite strong. I am very pleased and will purchase more for my other bed projects. Save yourself some time and order everything at once.
Hidden Bed Rail ConnectorPosted November 6, 2013
I marked a hole center for the 1-3/8" hole approx. 2-1/2" from the end of the rail. Then I transferred the mark to the end of the rail for a 3/8" through hole (instructions called for 5/8" hole). After drilling these two holes, I used a 3/8" dowel center point and assembled the bed. This dimples a center point for the threaded inserts. Drill for threaded inserts with a 17/32" bit (a 1/2" bit will not work).
Then it's just a matter of bolting everything together. I have used these on two beds now, and wouldn't hesitate to use them again. It simply results in a very sturdy joint.
