1/2'' to 8mm Collet Adapter
1/2'' to 8mm Collet Adapter

This collet reducer allows you to use 8mm shank router bits with your 1/2" collet. The collet adapter slips into your existing 1/2" collet, and the router bit is then inserted into the adapter. The expansion slot ensures a tight grip on the router bit shank. With the ability to use 8mm shank router bits, you'll have access to a wider bit selection. 8mm shanks are also slightly thicker than 1/4" shanks, for better stability.

  • Sleeve reduces the size of your router collet from 1/2" to 8mm
  • Allows you access to a wider selection of router bits
  • Expansion slot for a tight grip on the shank
  • Precision-machined steel
  • Measures 1/2" diameter x 1" long
(1) 1/2'' to 8mm Collet Adapter

Excellent tool.
Indispencable tool using 8mm shank on a 1/2" chuck. It works perfectly every time.

Woodworking Experience:
Rockler Rocks!
The Rockler 8mm collet adapter fit perfectly on my Ridgid R2911, and achieved great results. Pictures are posted on my Instagram page. I was told that it was not compatible with Rockler product's. And even the Rockler universal adapter router plate fit like a glove.

Rockler claims there is less chatter than with a 1/4" shank. Is it that noticeable? I had trouble seating it, it slid inside my collet and I had to destroy the bit.

BEST ANSWER: Same thing happened to me. Mine came with the dovetail jig.
Is there a 1/4" to 1/4" collet extender??
Roger D on Mar 9, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The 1/2" to 8 mm collet is meant to be able to accommodate bits with an 8 mm shank. It is not really an "extender", I.e. a device to effectively elongate the router's collet.
Where can I find a 1/2" to 1/4"collett adaptor?
charles j on Dec 11, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I purchased mine at my local rocker store.
