its a dust port, what can i say
Directions say to attach it to your device. Put a dust hose on it. Turn on vacuum, and it will facilitate the movement of dust to your DC. I followed this procedure and it worked perfectly. I used mine for a small tabletop dust table, attached to a Rigid vacuum.

Worked for me
I used this adapter to convert my old Delta benchtop jointer to have dust collection instead of just dumping all the shavings on the floor. After adding a flat piece of wood at the end of the dust chute, I screwed this piece in and it now works dust-free (well, mostly).

I am trying to reduce dust in my shop/basement. I have an older model Ryobi planer with no dust control feature. I am building my own dust box to fit on the planer, and the port must be connected to a shop vac. I want the port to be secure, and this item has a flange with pre-drilled holes.

Dust Right FlexiPort Power Tool Hose Kit, 3' to 12' Expandable
BEST ANSWER: Yes it does. My shop vac has 2-1/4 end that fits inside end opposite flange end.
Specs here say Large Opening OD: 3-3/4", Flange: 3-3/4". The flange is bigger than the large opening obviously so both can't be correct. I would like to know both of these. Can you tell me the flange OD and large opening OD just above the flange?
Michael K on Jun 3, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Top inside dimension 2.29" top outside dimension 2.45"
Flange end inside dimension 2.51"
Just above Flange 2.79"
Flange 0.53"
