A Great Hinge
Worked out real well on my newest cigar humidor box. For this version I used left over hickory floor boards. Utilized the existing tongue and groove on the boards as the seal around the top.

For the hinges I took an extra one and carefully drilled a couple holes at the 30mm center location. Now i can place this hinge where it's to be mounted and mark the center hole for the 30mm fostner bit (38197).

See photos.

I use these hinges on the mailboxes I build, they last many years.

easy if you measure carefully
the 30mm bit is needed for a nice finish, u must measure well and i would do a dummy install before final on your box. the hinge pin could be engineered better for a smoother operation and alignment. all in all it's good for the price and functional.

Easy alignment with these hinges
The only shortfall of these hinges is that you need a 30mm forstner bit. If you don't have one, the cost must be considered. Given that, these are easy to install with a little recess with the 30mm bit -- far faster than a rectangular mortise.

A tad sloppy, but works as advertised. You don't really need the Forstner bit for bi-fold application. Surface mount works just fine. Eyeballing alignment is required in any case as there is no jig or instructions. Simple to use.

Great hinge for bifold doors. It is a thick and strong design. The pin is removable so make sure it is inserted from the top or mounted right side up. Only con is that the hinge is a little bit sloppy, it is not quite as precise as I would like. But over all a very good hinge.

I used these on a walnut (cedar lined) chest (two sets). They work well if you use a forstner bit.

They are good hinges.
I have been using these for years, but I don't understand why you don't sell the brass finish anymore. I bought 100 pairs of brass ones from another seller so you lost that many sales. Plus the forstner bit you sold me with the first ones I bought is worthless. It has chamfered corners and the hinge will not fit in it. You asked for a review so here ya go.

Look beautiful, all except when the hinge bends into the 90 degree angle, which is when it became painfully obvious that the hinge pins are bent and my box lid goes from perfectly flat to horribly crooked. Not to mention the $30 I spent on the 30mm forstner bit specifically to install them.

Where can I purchase the 30mm hex shank Forstner bit shown here?
Bill_Ohio on May 13, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I never found one. I wound up using my router to mortise the hinges traced around hinge and then routed it freehand. Worked pretty good actually.
How long are the screws that come with it?
James K on Sep 26, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The screws are 9/16” long from top of flat heat to point
