So far, so good
These hinges do exactly what they are supposed to do. Very easy to install. We have not used the table very much yet. Hopefully, they will hold up well.

Just built a 4' x 8'...
Just built a 4' x 8' double sided drafting table for myself. I looked all over for hardware exactly like this and couldn't find any that looked strong enough to hold the table tops until I found Rockler! I ordered one pair for each side and installed them easily within an hour of receiving them. I made an extra support for each side, just to be safe, but honestly these brackets probably would have sufficed by themselves. The adjustable height range is amazing and I couldn't be happier with this product. While deciding if this was the right product for me, I called a support line and received excellent customer service. Thank you Rockler!

is there possibilities to keep drafting board in horizontal position?
vadim k on Jun 18, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Yes, this allows the board to be lowered to a horizontal position.
how high does it go?
Dan B on May 12, 2016
BEST ANSWER: As high or as low as you want. I installed it as per the recommended mounting locations in the instructions, where the above answers are correct. But if I positioned it further from the hinge, it would be stronger, but not go as high. If I positioned it close to the hinge, it would go much higher. It can easily hit 90 degrees. If you were to put a small spacer on it, and mount it a bit lower (so it doesn't bump the bed/table/lounge chair when opening), it could go past 90 degrees, albeit with a lower load rating.

You do need a little bit more room in the hinge than how far this goes. You put it down by lifting all the way and then lowering.
I am considering using this hardware to make a rotating table top for my planned model railroad (thus enabling me to install wiring and electrical devices beneath the table without having to crawl under it). What is the maximum angle that these devices "open" to?
Robert G on Dec 28, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The main support arms are at 90 degrees when fully opened. However, how close you are to the hinge of what you're opening dictates how much you can lift the board you mount it to. I've mounted it as close to the hinge as possible and am able to raise the top 70 degrees.
I installed the hardware following the instructions exactly as stated unfortunately I cannot get the top to close completely flat. The lowest I can get the top is 25 degrees. So, the range of motion for the top is 25 to 50 degrees, not 0 to 50 as advertised. How do I get the top to lay flat?
John D on Jun 22, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Did you follow the 1" minimum clearance as in the instructions? If not, it will catch. Is the alignment correct between top and bottom? If not, the metal may catch on the plastic. If so, it won't close all the way. The top metal piece should come down around the plastic.
how does the catch release? Can it be released from the front or pivot side?
A shopper on Jul 13, 2015
BEST ANSWER: You have to pull it open until the plastic that surrounds the catch is past the tooth nearest the hinge. You can also manually hold the plastic in place if you don't want to open it that far, but you have to physically hold the plastic in place to do that.
can 30155 lift hold a 60" X 30" and 60" X 36" top?
A shopper on Apr 30, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Yes it can hold the weight of top -like 3/4" ply
The Problem is to set table top down flat you need to reach the brackets and release
Which cause you to keep them to the outside edges and cause center to be weak and bow at that size. I added small angel aluminum to back side plenty of room to do.

Just keep table top surface with lighter materials
can your 30155 lift hold a top 60" X 30 and 60" X 36?
A shopper on Apr 30, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Easily it can hold this size with a light-weight material. We used 3/4" Baltic Birch plywood on our surface. You may want to use a sturdy lighter weight material. My table is heavy to move. 58"x 42" No problems with the tilt and stays. We also included a pivot base on our table's construction. It has a multi-functional use for how we wished to use the table.
CAN THIS HANDLE A 90 POUND TABLE TOP?
KEVIN P on Apr 29, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Yes, it can. This is designed for lounge chairs as well. There is a static weight limit of around 220lbs. You do want to make sure the hinge is rated for it as well (they recommend a piano hinge). There is almost no support off-axis otherwise.

Main answer is incorrect. You unlatch by pulling all the way up. It's a rather clever mechanism. Have a look at it.
are they sturdy enough to work on a layout table lets say 40"x 36" ?
A shopper on Apr 29, 2015
BEST ANSWER: MY table is 44" x 48". It is double 3/4 around the perimeter so very heavy. The brackets can handle but you should use a full length piano hinge
Could these be used to build a standing desk? When fully extended, can the desk top be level horizontally or would it be slanted?
Norman B on Apr 12, 2018
BEST ANSWER: It'll work. .... Just need to allow for a cavity or gap for hardware to swing and retract
Is the ratcheting mechanism dependent on on gravity (ie. would it still work if it was installed 90deg or 180deg from the way it is depicted)?
Simon on Jun 21, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes it is gravity dependent. It might work in a 90 degree orientation, but not 180

26x59 dimension 7/8 thick pine wood?
Peter D on Jan 20, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The top I used for these was only 30"X42" but worked great
How much weight will these hinges support? I have a solid pine top, 54'' x 27'.
WILLIAM H on May 20, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I used 3/4 birch plywood for the top made a 8 ft X 4ft top split so two 48". By 48" with 4 hinges table hinges still work well after a year. Yours should work but I would use 3 hinges.
Has anyone ever used this in a marine environment and if so, how does it hold up rust wise?
Alex D on Apr 10, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I have not used this in a marine environment. My guess is that it would rust.
Could this support be mounted vertically? I'm looking to have a shelf the is hinged at the top, lays flat vertically (against a wall) when not deployed and opens from the bottom and locks in a variety of positions.

Can the mechanism be reversed to achieve 90deg tilt by attaching the fixing brackets closer to the hinge?
