Bahco Ergo Carbide Scraper

Item #
58510
Rating:
100% of 100

The Bahco Ergo scraper features a cemented carbide scraper blade that's 2.5 times harder than hardened steel and lasts over 50 times longer than conventional steel blades. Mounted in the supremely comfortable Bahco Ergo handle, the blade works beautifully for scraping wood, glue, paint and varnish, and can also be used for tougher jobs where a steel scraper would be ineffective, such as for scraping rust off fence posts.

Features:
  • Ideal for scraping glue, paint, varnish, rust, gaskets, caulk, grout and mortar
  • Ergonomic handle with finger relief provides comfort and an efficient grip
  • Large rounded knob lets you apply heavy pressure when necessary
  • Spacious handle may be gripped over the entire length of the scraper and allows room for the knuckles
  • Textured soft rubber distributes the pressure on the hand
  • Butt end is hook-shaped so less grip strength is required to pull
  • Blade is held securely to the aluminum blade support with a single screw
  • No sharpening required—simply install a new carbide blade (#63271, sold separately)
  • Solvent-resistant

A seriously good tool
I've spent many hours sharpening steel scrapers and having them get dull in about the same time it took to sharpen them. This scraper has had several hours of use and it is still sharp. After I've scraped off three layers of paint the wood underneath is quite smooth, no need for sanding unless there's been some grain tear out. Light weight and good ergonomics make it a pleasure to use.

GREAT TOOL
Thank you John for showing me this tool when I didn't really have a clue. I was scraping old varnish off of a wall & thought a putty scraper thing would work, At first I thought the price was too high for me but quickly changed my mind when I got home and tried it. WOW - what a difference the right tool makes. Price shouldn't always be the reason for buying....ask the guys at Rockler - they really know their stuff!

I had Sandvik version of this some years ago; until it was ripped off. Great scraper, obviously

According to Woodsmith magazine this will give an option for greater pressure than the card style scraper.

I need a scraper to clean up glue spoil before final assembly. This seems to have a nice design for holding.
