Bench Dog® Crown-Cut

Cutting crown molding doesn't have to be difficult! Crown-Cut eliminates the complication of cutting crown and cove molding, giving you perfect miters, every time. What's the secret? Crown-Cut holds the molding at its intended angle while you cut it. No more compound cuts and tedious trial and error! Before Crown-Cut, miscalculated compound cuts produced sloppy miters that screamed for caulk and paint. Even if you're using the coping method for inside miters, Crown-Cut will prove useful for the initial cuts. For a professional looking job, cut your crown and cove the easy way!

  • The safest and easiest way to cut crown and cove molding
  • Fits all 10" and larger miter saws, regular or sliding
  • Exclusive fence risers adjust to fit crown and cove molding up to 6" wide
  • Integral setup guide prevents costly miscuts
  • Completely portable. Does NOT need to be attached to your miter saw

Must have for a DIYer
Worked great. The diagrams on the fence were extremely helpful and the jig held the crown molding secure. Worth the price if I only use it once.

Best crown tool ever used.
Love this tool. Makes putting on crown a snap. Very adjustable, hold crown in right position, and even having the diagrams on it saved me a few times from messing up cut cause i always forget to turn it upside down.

OK maybe 4 3/4 stars only reason is the stop is too short and it doesn't allow to cut short pieces, but there is ways to get around that. It was the perfect tool for the job. Total rookie here and every cut was perfect just follow the pictures ??.

Great jig...simple but effective!
Rockler Crown Cut Jig

First off…nicely thought out. However, the jig has a small flaw; the back side that rests on the miter saw fence is not plumb. So, when you grab it with the crown molding inserted, it rocks back throwing off the cut.

Should this be a deal killer? Nope.

The simple solution to a great jig with a tiny flaw:

1. Clear off your table saw.
2. Lower the blade all the way, you won’t need it for this operation.
3. Set the fence on the extreme right-hand side and lock it in place.
4. Place a piece of rough, 60 grit will do, sandpaper business side down on the table near the fence.
5. Slide one half inch of the paper under the fence.
6. Fold the paper up exposing the grit and over the top of the fence. Hold it firmly in place with one hand.
7. Place the jig on the table and while holding it down firmly, rub the jig on the sandpaper fence.
8. You are now mindlessly, and safely taking that little bit of excess plastic away from the lower back portion that causes the rocking. Check periodically during the process.
9. This may take a change of sandpaper a couple of times but within minutes your jig back will be 90 degrees to the bottom…no more rocking!

What I like about this jig is that when not making miter cuts, you simply move it out of the way, and the jig works on either side of the blade. Put it back and the jig is ready to go again.

Once you get the rock taken out, you will never do crown molding without it again!

what keeps the bench-dog-crown in place on the bed of the miter saw?

Thank you

Ron D on Nov 7, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Firm pressure from your other hand
Would anyone know the height of the back wall on this jig? My 10" sliding miter only has 3-1/2" clearance from table to bottom of sliding rails.
RJreviewer on Jul 30, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It states - Fits all 10" and larger miter saws, regular or sliding.
That's a pretty good reason to return it if it doesn't fit....
In addition. you don't need it to be right up against the blade slot. keeping it back 2 inches shouldn't affect the quality that much...
How thick is the bed of this device? I'm thinking of getting 2 in lieu of crown stops...
Loren L on Apr 29, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Why, just move it from one side to the other?
Do you have to have a 10 inch miter saw? I have an 8.5 inch one.
George P on Aug 24, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I have a 12 inch miter saw and do know that it'll work fine in the 10 inch, but I'm not totally sure if it works on an 8.5. The base support should be okay but I'm not sure about the back support.
with the bench dog crown cut will I need to cope my corners?
rick e on Jan 23, 2018
BEST ANSWER: This jig will hold your crown at the proper angle like it would fit on the ceiling. You need to measure the angle of the corner and adjust your miter saw to half that angle to get a perfect fit each time.
will this work with small 7- 1/4 miter saw?
JEFFERY S on Apr 29, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I did my project using a 12" miter saw, however the specifications state that it is for use with a 10" or larger miter saw.
will This tool work with Dewalt miter saw DW780?
