Tired of the jarring sound of banging cabinet doors? Your doors will close gently and silently with the new BLUMOTION soft-close hinge adapter system. The 973A adapts to Blum frameless hinges 55793, 55926, and 55933 face frame hinges (does not work with Half 120° Blum Clip Top Hinges, 55801), and requires no change to the hinge assembly.

Excellent!
These hinges are easy to install and no more banging of cabinet doors. Combine these with some nice felt or rubber pads on the non-hinge side and you've got yourself a super-quiet closing door.

The existing cabinets were high end and the existing hardware was not slow close. My friend didn't want to risk replacing the existing hidden hinges and causing any damage to the cabinet. This was the best option.

BEST ANSWER: I honestly was unaware there are two different sizes of soft closure mechanisms. I have always used this one with good results. Your only consideration might be if the size would restrict what you plan to place in the cabinet. Otherwise I would use the larger because larger hardware tends to be more durable.
can i use just one per pair of hinges to get the soft close feature?

BEST ANSWER: One soft closure works per cabinet unless extra large door. I installed one on pantry door that had three hinges and it closes nicely.
Are these hinges spring-loaded? (To help the doors close)

BEST ANSWER: Bob, this ‘adapter’ clips to the hinge......it is not a hinge......and I believe there is a tiny pneumatic devise in them that slows the door.

BEST ANSWER: First, you need to ensure the metal spring on the hinge side of the soft-close clip is not bent or damaged. If all looks good you install it by tipping the front plastic part - the end which contacts the door as it closes, in toward the hinge while holding the back side out just enough to catch the protruding hook on the clip in the receiving slot on the hinge body. Pushing slightly forward on the clip to depress the metal spring you checked earlier, you then push the back end of the clip onto the hinge body and let go of the clip.
Do these work with Hettich clip top hinges?
