Rockler Bullnose Radius Router Bits - 1/2" Shank

Item #
GRP25161
Rating:
94% of 100
Our Bullnose Radius Bits cut a perfect half-round profile for a variety of stock widths. Unlike quarter round bits, these will not leave a flat in the middle of the stock, and you can complete the profile in a single pass. You can leave the edge perfectly smooth, or select a bit that is sized to leave shoulders on the top and bottom of your stock. Carbide-tipped for an exceptionally long life and smooth cut. Note: These are large bits, and should be used safely at reduced RPM.

Awesome router bit!
This bit makes a perfectly smooth cut.
Routed without a router table, even cut then to length and routed around the corner.

Bullnose Radius Riuter Bit
I bought this bit to make an edge to an old small bedside table. The veneer had started to come off when water warped the core. The trim originally on the edge got tossed out. This bit worked great when used on my router table. I used the fence to guide the work along the perimeter.
I used the bit to edge this table after reinstalling the veneer after the core warped. Worked great.

Bullnose Router Bit
Works great but you need to use a guide for the router base plate to make a perfect bullnose.

IF I USE A 3/4 INCH DIAMITER CUT WITH A BULL NOSE BIT AND USE A 3/4 INCH THICK BOARD WILL THAT GIVE ME A HALF ROUND EDGE ?
Garybrogan on Oct 25, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes. Just be sure to set the height correctly. Use some scrap and run it through to see if the height is set correctly. I used an orbital sander for a nice finish.
What bit do I need for 3/4" board? ( bull nose with small lip on each side)
A shopper on Aug 18, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The 5/8" diameter (5/16" radius) bit #38672 would seem to meet your requirements. It would make a 5/8' diameter half round, with 1/16" lip on each side of the board, to total the 3/4" thickness of the board.
I need a Canoe bit for 2x6 lumber but can't seem to find something big enough. What do you suggest?
Jennifer C on Feb 11, 2016
BEST ANSWER: 2X6? For a *canoe*? That is wayyyy too large a piece of stock for canoe making. You would never be able to portage a canoe made from 2"x6"s!

My advice? Revise the design for 1/2" stock ...

On the Bullnose Radius Router Bits (specifically items 30476 and 32545) are they tapped on the end for attaching a ball bearing? I am working with curved shapes so I cannot use a fence. Following a pattern with a ball bearing seems the best choice.
Cordell W on Apr 11, 2019
BEST ANSWER: The one I purchased in 2017 does not have a bearing or any way to attach one.
i don't have a router table so wanted to know how can i use this to bullnose 1/4 inch oak board to create drawer divider?
Toomas K on Feb 5, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I made a wood template, measured and set the distance so the bit would strike where I needed it to. I clamped them to my work bench and it routed perfectly. Good luck.
I need to duplicate some antique molding on a desk. The shape is roughly the same as this bullnose bit. The molding measurements are bullnose 3/8, total width (wings and bullnose) 9/16 and total height about 3/8. If the wings are little too wide, they can be trimmed. Is the 3/8 diameter bit the right one? What do the quoted measurements stand for? I get the 3/8 diameter for the bullnose but what about the other two dimensions?
John M on Aug 16, 2016
BEST ANSWER: It sounds like the 3/8 diameter bit is what you need. The quoted measurements for the bit are 3/4" D, which is the diameter of the bit, 1-5/16" H which is the total height of the cutting area of the bit (which means you can use the bit on a piece of wood up to 1-5/16" thick).
I have a stair tread 1" thick with full bull on front. What router bit do I need to continue the bull nose on the sides and is there a certain technique to use. Is there a bit that will cut that radius in 1 pass?.
