Bypass door lock
I wanted a recessed lock to put in a Murphy Bed frame to keep our Grandkids safe from pulling bed down on them selves. This was the perfect solution. It fits perfectly in tight spacing. easy to open and lock. you can lock it without the key in. which is real convenient.

I want to lock 6 drawers from the right side through the cabinet side wall. I will construct a metal plate and attach to the side of the drawer. When the plunger is pushed in, the metal plate will act as an obstruction so the drawer cannot be pulled out until the lock is in the open position. This is for a jewelry drawer unit with six drawers stacked on top of each other. All keyed alike will make opening any drawer easier.

I needed a way to lock a flip-down door with limited interior clearance. This, along with an L-Bracket, will do the job!

For use with a file cabinet that didn't come with a lock and cannot use regular front mount locks that require a ledge under the top. This hopefully will work on the side and lock into the side of the drawer like the one on the desk.

Felicia J on Jun 22, 2016
When the lock is in the locked position, how much of the plunger protrudes into the door on the underside and can the locks be keyed alike?
Hank G on Aug 11, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The plunger will extend out 5/16"
Will these work on 1-3/8" thick or 1-3/4" thick doors?
Kevin C on Mar 22, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I don’t remember the thickness of the door or the thickness of the door it was designed for for but the lock worked great and still does.
Thanks
Joe
This is exactly what I am looking for. However I need to use it on an outdoor project. Will it hold up for that?
Vinnie B on Oct 18, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I would have to know what kind of an outdoor project this is to determine my answer.
Do these work for bypass sliding doors ?
John M on Mar 10, 2016
BEST ANSWER: If by "bypass sliding door" you mean a patio door, my answer would probably be no, the throw is not long enough to be secure. If you mean a cabinet with sliding bypass doors, then my answer would be yes. That is how I used them.
Would this work to lock a drawer if you mounted the lock on the side of the cabinet?
Tony M on Jan 8, 2016
BEST ANSWER: tony, I believe this lock would work as you described, but the throw of the plunger is not very long so you might have to compensate by putting a tab on the side of the drawer. John
Can I get 4 locks all of them with the same key?
A shopper on Sep 3, 2015
BEST ANSWER: YES! we needed 4 all keyed the same. They all work perfectly with the same key! ( there are 4 sets of keys that came with the 4 locks)
Is the plunger spring activated? That is, does a spring push the plunger outward?
T A on Apr 26, 2020
BEST ANSWER: The plunger has a spring that pushes in when locked and pushes outward when unlocked. I purchased the lock to replace a similar lock on a roll top desk.
Would this lock work on by-pass closet doors?
Kris W on Aug 8, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I do not believe the throw is long enough for it to work with closet doors. They typically swing in and out some, and would just bypass the pin.
