European Style Sliding Door Hardware

Silent operation and a virtually concealed profile are the two biggest advantages of this hardware. The ribbed side of the track will hold it firmly within the groove. Both upper and lower guides require drilling 35mm holes in doors. Upper guide has an adjustable lug - lockable at 5mm and 8mm depths. Lower roller guide has vertically adjustable steel spindle with nylon roller for door thickness of 5/8" or greater.

Features:

  • One set is enough for one sliding door
  • Tracks are made from brown extruded plastic
  • Upper and lower guides are made from molded plastic

It was easy to install. Used Rockler European hinge fixture just added 5/16 shim. Drilled and they installed easily. Track was also easy used 1/4” carbide router bit made 2 passes on table. Then cut and installed track started track by hand a pine block and hammer tapping in from one end to the other.

Great hardware, but pricey
I agree with most here that this hardware glides perfectly, so I'll just note a few things I ran into during installation.

One, you'll need one of these sets per door. That's $30 per door. Two, you'll need to make a couple preceise passes with a 1/4" router bit to install the channel guide since it's measurement needs to be converted from millimeters to inches. And three, I think it's critical the doors are flat and stay flat for the glides to function.

Other than that, I found installation and setup intuitive.

Very smooth operation.
Installing and removing is easy. Dadoes must be accurate for proper operation. Adequate vertical adjustment is neat. I used it to mount old wood windows in open cabinet over bar. Adding inch measurements would be helpful.

Great product
I purchased one set of these for a project to build a cabinet into a small closet. I wanted a sliding door on the top half to hide a small hanging area on one side with shelves on the other. The rolling sliders and track worked perfect. Pretty easy to build in and get everything aligned.

Great Solution - Great Service
I recently retired and built my retirement house. The kitchen was a temporary kludge to make it functional until I could get around to making my own cabinets. We have really come to hate swing out doors on kitchen cabinets and found this solution. We love it! The hardware is of good quality and the doors slide with ease. I completed building and installing all the upper cabinets (see photos). As you can see the base cabinets are next. I will also be using bypass doors for these with pull-out drawers.
When I first ordered the hardware, it was out of stock and I had to wait. I called customer service to get an update on a delivery date. While talking, I found out that the rollers were in stock; they were just waiting on the tracks. I asked if I could get a set of rollers so I could start working on my cabinets. They gladly shipped me a set and I was able to move forward with the cabinets while waiting on the tracks to come in. That was really above and beyond and is the kind of thing that makes customers come back when they are treated so well.
I highly recommend these. And I am very happy with everythings I have purchased from Rockler.

Can I but more door guides without the track?
Eric D on Jul 9, 2015
Is there a recommended minimum door width vs. maximum door height? I am wanting to use these on cabinet doors about 15" wide x 38" high. Any problems? Thanks.
A shopper on Aug 25, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I don't see any problem with the size of the doors you're using. The plan these were designed for are much larger than that
How much smaller should the door be than the opening?
A shopper on Apr 30, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Taking into account that the top/bottom tracks sit about 1/16" proud of the woodwork I'd say the overall height of the door should be 1/4" less than the opening height. If you're top/bottom woodwork are parallel then that provides 1/16" clearance between the door top/bottom and the tracks. I backed into it by building a mock-up door and trimmed it till the door slid smoothly in the track..
How many constitute a pack?
Charles L on Apr 7, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Look at the overview of the item. It will tell exactly what is included in each pack. 2 door tracks, 2 sliding door upper guides , 2 lower door sliding rollers , and instructions for sliding door kit .You may want to buy a 35 mm forstner drill for proper fit of guides and rollers.
Can this be used for bypassing door application? I'd imagine so.
SoCal on Jul 17, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes takes a little figuring for
proper door clearance
Do tracks come with rollers?
Jerry C on Aug 7, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes the tracks come with rollers, before you dado for the tracks I would insert the rollers in the doors first and see what their location is so you provide adequate spacing for the door to the face frame and in between each door so they don't rub, took me a couple of times of getting it wrong before I knew where to make dado's.
Is it possible to paint the track ? Using for a white cabinet. I would only paint the outer flange portion to better match the cabinet.
Tim H on Mar 6, 2017
BEST ANSWER: If you little sand this down to knock the shine, you can spray paint these and allow them to FULLY cure before installation. In the morning, a light coat of primer, wait till dry, one more coat of primer, wait all day. Then spray 3 light coats of paint. Less is better. Wait 24 hours until installation. Paint takes a month to fully cure to 100% but you should be fine to use after 48 hours.
Good luck

will this work for a triple slider, assuming doors are 16 inches x 80 inches?
doug p on Oct 1, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Yes, but you will need 2 1/2 inches of depth for tracks and doors
How do you buy extra track?
1156kmurphs 1 on Jan 27, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I am sorry, I don't know, you might have to buy another kit. Ron
Can I buy the upper guides only?
Tom K on May 10, 2015
BEST ANSWER: You can from other vendors, but I wouldn't suggest it; the bottom of the doors would hang and bounce together. These lower glides are really nice too.
Would this system work if instead of mortise mounting, the rollers and guides are surface mounted about 1/2” from door? They are small doors, 15 x 16 x 3/4 and weigh less the 5 lbs each
James B on Feb 6, 2019
BEST ANSWER: It probably would since the doors are small. I am assuming that the doors don’t weigh much compared to mine which are closer to 4’ x 8’ furniture grade plywood.
can you use european door slide on a double door?
chuck on Apr 12, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Yes you can ... I have done it. You just need to route two slots for two tracks just far enough part so the doors will pass each other. I recommend building your doors first (before routing the track slots) and install the “pucks” into the doors just so you can get a more precise measurement on the distance needed between the tracks. Also figure out how much overlap you want on the doors with both fully closed. 24” wide opening with 12-1/2” wide doors will give you 1/2” of overlap. Otherwise the hardware is good and should not give you any trouble.
I am planning on building 10 light sliding glass panel maple doors. (34"w x 80"h. x 1"th.) with 1/8"th. glass. Is your sliding door hardware suitable for doors of this size?
Steve S on Nov 30, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Funny you should ask. I just built a huge entertainment center with large sliding doors like you are building. I decided not to use these. That might have worked but they seemed a little light. I ended up using commercial pocket door slides and they worked out well.
To use this system in a cabinet with two doors, I would need two of these kits, right? And the Forstner bit would be extremely helpful, too? Would I need to purchase two hardware tracks and upper guides, also. Or rout them into the cabinets base?
Gloria N on Aug 26, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Yes you need two kits for two doors. Fostner bit is a must. The kits comes with upper and lower tracks and you need to cut a grove for the tracks.
Can I use this to slide a 25" x 48" by 3/4" door vertically in front of my tv?
Katsy O on May 16, 2015
BEST ANSWER: That is a pretty big door-I used these successfully for doors that are about 32"X14" each. The weight limit suggested by company is 44 lbs each door.
I will say that if the plastic insert glide is not placed in groove you make properly,if it is "squeezed" in to tightly , the door, esp that large will probably get stuck. Just saying
I'm building a display case with two glass doors .do I need only one set or two sets (two rails for top & bottom and 8 wheels)?
Terry K on Mar 9, 2018
BEST ANSWER: If you're having two doors that pass in front or behind each other, you'll need 4 tracks(2 up top & two at the bottom) and 4 wheels per door, so yes, you'll need two sets.
I'd like to use this kit as a pocket door, but it seems like the little tongues would force me to angle the door in from one side - meaning I'd have to keep one wall of the pocket removable. Has anyone used this in a pocket setting?
Bredlo on Jan 27, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I've only used it to replace one in an entertainment center, but if I understand your question correctly it shouldn't be an issue. The tongues are connected to the red slotted turning mechanism, so you can line them up with the tracks and then turn them in and out of the track with a screwdriver.
The kit notes that it can handle 44 lbs. My door weighs approx. 60 lbs. If I double up the kit can it handle the weight?
Gerry B on Jan 14, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I would go for it. The only thing I would recommend is that you bottom reveal stays on the lowest adjustment which will leave you with about an 1/8" reveal on the bottom. I think if you try to raise the door by adjusting the wheel you may find I will go out of adjustment due to the weight.
