The case locks look great and work great. Reasonably priced and the best that I found for the for the money. The rivets used for fastening the locks in the case were a bit difficult.

Excellent case locks
I was using another brand that kept failing. These were the same price but much better construction. Will be using many more.

Product is exactly what I needed for my briefcase project. I could not find them on line or in your catalog. Lucky for me, one of your employees referred me to your technology department and they found just what I needed

Perfect description and fit
Parts arrived in a timely fashion and were as described. I only need one lock to fix the gun case and used the original flapper latch. can't tell I ever fixed the case. Since then I have repaired another case for a student of mine with the remaining lock. His parents were very very happy because it was an expensive case and they didn't know you could purchases locks. I would recommend this lock set to anyone that needs to replace a lock. Would be nice if you could purchase just one lock rather than two.

Do they come in chrome?
William F on Jul 17, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I am happy to help a fellow craftsman BUT I urge Rockler to at least read the question before reaching out to a customer. If Rockler does not know if they come in chrome how am I supposed to know? Dave
How are these attached? Can I attach them to 1/2" thick wood?
Scott K on Aug 24, 2015
BEST ANSWER: They attach with split rivets. You place them in the hole and spread the rivet with a screw driver. I then took a "C" clamp and continued to compress them so they were tight. My case was a little thinner than 1/2 inch so I placed small washers on the inside as a spacer and they tightened down just fine. You will need to cut a hole in the wood for the lock to fit in so the face will stay flush and the latch will work. This can be done with a dermal tool. I was replacing a lock on my gun case and I was very lucky because the hole for the lock and the holes for the rivets all lined up. It is a very nice lock and matched the original lock. They come in pairs a right hand lock and a left hand lock. Hope this helps
Are these latches real brass or plated pot metal?
Curt F on Jan 22, 2019
BEST ANSWER: The stamped cover plate is stamped sheet brass. Wheels seem brass castings (non-magnetic). Lock housing cover is stamped steel. At a guess, the inside lock mechanism may have some pot metal components.
Do you have to oil these locks?
Gary T on Jan 10, 2020
BEST ANSWER: I have never lubricated my lock and have never had a problem with it, or similar "wheel" combination locks. I don't see where there would be any harm to lubricating the mechanism, other than perhaps damaging an interior felt or cloth box lining from excess oil.

Does this product come with a layout template?
Chad J on Dec 22, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes it did and easy to install. Recess cut out for the combination lock is the most critical to correct placement and operation
I'm installing these on a piston case. the wood is 3/4 inch oak. i need longer rivets. where can i find some?
Cary K on Aug 18, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Seem like I used one of these quite a while back. I think 3/4 walnut. Can"'t reminder what I did might have switched to screws that matched.
I need to change the combination, how do I do this?
Rick W on Apr 23, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Push the tab the opposite direction that you do when you open the lock. hold and set the new combination and then release the tab. This should set your new combination.
what is the size of these?
Scott K on Aug 24, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The front is 2-9/16" wide x 1-5/16" high
The recessed back is 1-11/16 wide x 3/4" high and 1/2" deep
