A Quality Bottle Stopper
This looks like one of the better stainless steel stoppers on the market. But why are they only sold one to the package?
It would seem to be more efficient AND economical to offer them in packs of four or five.

The material used for this project is a material that much to my dismay is no longer available. It was known as Dymondwood. It is a composite of soft maple dyed and laminated under pressure. There is a new company that is making a product similar to this, but I still have some stocks of this material left. I will use it up before trying the new material.
Dymondwood stopper which much to my dismay is no longer available.
The smaller stopper was made using a 1-1/2x1-1/2x2-1/2 piece of Dymond wood.

Great design and simple to use.
Thread size is perfect for securing to turned piece. Drill with 5/16 and use standard tap. I use a touch of epoxy to keep it from unscrewing as people twist into or out of bottle.

Are the threads 3/8-16?
A shopper on May 10, 2015
BEST ANSWER: yes
Is the 7/8" diameter the same that I would match up the mandrel end up to?
Rod G on Jan 23, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Well, 7/8" will work just fine, but I like to trim just under that with final sanding done. I like the knob to be just a fraction over the 3/4' diameter of the metal plate of the stopper metal after final sanding. So that would be what, 13/16"???? The trick is to be careful to NOT permit the cutting tool to touch the mandrel and do the final trim with sandpaper.
