Worked Great!
I really like these and they worked well. The only thing I would change is for the cross dowel to be a little longer.

Great connector
The very best way to make a butt joint with plywood. You can tighten all you want without pullout. Of course, it has to be somewhere where it won’t be seen.

I need the cross dowels to stay in place as I remove the bolt for disassembly of the furniture. How do I secure the nut so I can easily place the bolt on reassembly?
burtcrane on Oct 24, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Sorry, three years too late for the person asking, but I'd think a drop of wood glue on top, after the bolt is screwed in, would work fine, and could be chipped out if absolutely necessary.
Need cross dowel that measures 3/8" x 1/2" to fit 1/4" bolt. What size should I be looking for?
Robb on Sep 8, 2015
BEST ANSWER: These are not 3/8" in diameter. 3/8" is 9.525 mm. These are more like 9.97mm, they will not fit 3/8 opening.
what is the exact size of these cross dowels? I want to 90 degree join 1/2 inch thick plywood.
Chris R on May 24, 2015
BEST ANSWER: 16mm L x 10 mm
I am looking for a 5/16 Cross Dowels do you make them?
george h on Jun 12, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I'm sorry, we only have a 3/8" cross dowel
Are these with M6 thread? I'm trying to replace broken pieces. The screws seem to be M6. If dowels are different, I'll need to replace bolts too.
Chuck on Dec 8, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Sorry no, these are not a metric thread, they are 1/4"-20 thread.
I am looking at dowels 31823, are these actually 10mm diameter not a rounded up number?
Charles T on Apr 9, 2015
BEST ANSWER: mine mic out at 9.97 mm
I need a cross dowel that is 5/16×18 and 1/2" long. Having trouble finding it. Any suggestions?
Jennifer P on Aug 12, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I presume that you know the specifications for the Rockler cross-dowels. Because you will be screwing a bolt into it, I don't think you'll need a tight fit.--i.e a 1/4 dowel likely would work just fine.
How many cross dowels come in a pack and are they 1/4-20x5/8?
Calvin V on Mar 26, 2016
BEST ANSWER: There are 8 in a pack and they are 1/4" 20tpi and they are 5/8" long and 3/8" wide
Looking for 1\2 20 any idea ?
Jim H on Jan 14, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Do you mean 1/4-20? 1/2-20 is a huge cross dowel. I have used the 1/4-20 and it is very strong and simple to use. It is a common part in knock down or assemble yourself furniture.
How much torque can be applied before bolt or nut gets striped? Please share foot lbs or Inch lbs
Vincent M on Jan 21, 2020
Opening of screw is 1/4 inch but the top diameter needs to be 1 inch. Do you have anything like that?
Sandy on Sep 7, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Sounds like an IKEA type connection. I may have something in our shop. Left over pieces
Is this 3/8 inch thread inside diameter or outside diameter?
Jim A on Oct 17, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I believe the outside diameter is approximately 3/8 of an inch. If I remember correctly the threaded hole is 1/4-20.
What is the finish of these?
Mike B on Apr 20, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Looks like (plated) nickel. Somewhat shiny but not as shiny as chrome.
Do you carry a 3/8" thread size in a cross dowel?
