Great Gouge
Gouge is great, very stable and clean cutting. It did need a quick sharpen out of the gate, but I expected that. Overall I'm very satisfied

Exactly as expected
Perfect tool for bowls, with the Ellsworth grind. Light honing would be a good idea but it performs well right out of the package. Nice weight and tool length, feels solid during turning sessions.

I have one and wanted a second one for teaching on my second lathe. It's a great "all-in-one" gouge for bowl turning.

BEST ANSWER: My bowl gouge says :David Ellsworth ,HSS steel, Crown Tools, made in England....No mention of M42, 007, or any other numbers. It is one beautiful bowl gouge though, and bought on a close-out for about $85.
