Antique Hinge Replacement
Hinges on the door of a mid-1800 antique cabinet had failed. The Rockler hinges in ORB were an excellent replacement. Thank you Rockler!

I attempted to put these hinges on a Christmas project I was finishing up on. I ported the holes, started screwing the screws by hand and 2 heads stripped. Another head completely snapped off and the threads are stuck in my project.
Needless to say my gift is not finished and I have another issue I need to deal with. If I wanted to buy cheap junk I would have gone elsewhere. I am very disappointed. These hinges; along with the others I bought are going back.

Poor Quality
The leaves have so much play (the pin is too small) it's hard to accurately hang a door. The screws are poorly made and don't fit a standard phillips tip screwdriver without stripping the slots. I had to purchase screws at another hardware store.

I'm dealing with 1/2" material, so 1" wide works well.

I built a chest, 1/2 thick pine. I would have bought a pair of no-mortise, but I've yet to find 1/2 wide leaves on no-mortise hinges. The screw holes are recessed, so this should work, though from reading reviews of the screws that come with them, I will probably buy screws separately.

It was the only hinge that was narrow and strong enough for my project. Was really worried I would not find this size. Doll kitchen is Christmas gift for our Granddaughter. Phew!!!

Made a small wooden box for my grandson and needed something simple yet stylish for the hinged lid. Have used these before and found them just the right size and material.

Are the hinges removable?
kelly m on Aug 2, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I don't think they can be removed.
Hi, I am needing a hinge to bridge a Lid and a Trunk on a wooden chest I am building. I bought a hinge recently and it had a bit of a dip in the middle and wouldn't let the lid be flush with the trunk. Will this hinge be completely flat on the back in order to have it flush? 'Flat Butt Hinge 2" x 1"'
Randall K on Sep 11, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I always check the condition of every hinge before I purchase to make sure they are straight and even. This hinge is not very expensive and formed by bending the flat pattern around a form and they can be uneven. If i want a perfect hing for a special project where i can't afford to have any uneven surfaces I use a Brasso Brass machined hinge. They are pricey but they are perfect.
Is this available, satin nickel butt hinge 1 1/2 x 3/4? Please resond if available.
