In the past I've used the...
In the past I've used the Pushmaster with both V nails for assembling frames and points for mounting the backing. It worked fine for soft wood, but failed miserably with a recent set of purple heart frames I built. I ended up using a different method for assembling the frames, but ordered the Framers Pliers for mounting the backing. I've never used the Frame Master to be able to compare it to these Framers Pliers, but the Framers Pliers worked pretty good, and cost a lot less. I was able to drive the points into the hard purple heart reasonably well, with only a couple points that ended up bent. One reviewer noted that the framing points break if you change the picture out. I would say the points used with these Framing Pliers aren't the best choice for situations where the picture will be changed occasionally.

Although the nut was missing from the set up tightening arm when delivered a trip to the hardware store and $0.13 later it worked fine, but one should not have to go through that should one.Editor's note: We agree Chris. In the event of missing, damaged or defective parts our customer service at 800-279-4441 is always available to assist.

This product is adequate for occasional use but the framers points are not easily positioned on the magnetic tip and tend to shift during use. I would not recommend this tool unless the manufacturer makes a design change to improve speed and ease of use.

Way too expensive for a piece of plastic.
Seems to work well with soft wood. Haven't tried it with hardwood but since its molded plastic, I'm not expecting good results. Way too expensive for a piece of plastic.

I was surprised and disappointed that the pliers were plastic. I don't knowingly buy plastic tools. But they do work, and my use will be only occasional. The pliers and points work adequately in soft wood; I haven't tried them yet in hardwood.

Does the job, grip is uncomfortable so this is not something you would want to use all day. For the occasional job works fine and price is right

Brads OK, points no so much
I bought one of these several years ago and used it on several frames, using points. The pine frames worked OK but I couldn't get the points into an Oak frame. I recently made 4 new frames and tried to use the frame plier when assembling them and had a lot of difficulty, the anvil (notch that catches the back of the point) had rounded off a little and the points kept slipping off. I tried brads and it works well. Stick with brads and you'll be OK.

Easy to insert, I have only used these in about 10 frames so far. It has been my experience that they easily snap off if you disassemble to change the picture out. Editor's note: comment is made regarding framer's points rather than the framer's pliers
