Freud® Rabbeting Router Bits - 1/2" Shank

Item #
GRP18710
Rating:
100% of 100

These bits include a set of bearings, which are installed to achieve a range of rabbet depths. Use them for joinery applications, such as for letting in back panels and the tops and bottoms of cabinets. The bits feature high-grade carbide, which produces super smooth cuts on both surfaces of the rabbet.

  • Steel pilots can be removed from bits and used with edge guides for wider rabbets.
  • Cuts all composition materials, plywoods, hardwoods, and softwoods.
  • Use on hand-held and table-mounted portable routers.

Rabbet a bit!
Needed a bit that would control the depth of the cut. This one did just that. Perfect cuts every time.

The assortment of bearings that come with this allow me to make rabbets at several different sizes. Very clean cut.

Rabbeting Bit with Different Bearings
Different size bearings allow you to fine tune rabbet. I had a mirror cut and after getting it home, it didn't quite fit in the frame. Changed to a slightly smaller bearing and skimmed off just a little more. Then the mirror fit in my frame

Great bits
Like all of the router bits I have purchased, all of Freud bits meet or exceed my expectations.
In my opinion, they are the best on the market. They can be sometimes pricey but when you purchase quality, you get quality.

works like a charm
I already had a rabbeting bit, but it was causing my router motor to labor, and hardly rabbeting at all.

This is a real bit, and transformed my rabbeting experience on this project. Got it done successfully. Made small Bosch router feel like Superman

Three of the four sets of rabbiting bits contain the same 5 bearings so what is the diffference between the three sets at three different prices? Clearly I am a newbie woodworker (ran the wood through the table router last night from left to right—that didn’t work very well—still have all my fingers though!)
Jeff G on Dec 10, 2018
BEST ANSWER: If you reread the listing you will see the first set only has a few bearings for different sizes. The second one has all the bearings available. The third one has a taller cut (3/4").
I am making a cabinet with 3/4" plywood and want the top and bottom pieces to have an L-shaped step cut to joint with the vertical panels. What rabbeting bit should I use. My router takes 1/2" shanks?
