Freud® LU74R Industrial Thin Kerf Ultimate Cut-Off Saw Blades

Item #
GRP16445
Rating:
96% of 100

This thin kerf blade produces glass smooth surfaces when crosscutting hardwoods and softwoods, thanks to Freud's unique side grinding technology. The larger blades are ideal for miter box applications. Thin kerf blades remove less material than standard carbide blades, thus requiring less horsepower to produce equally good results.

Features:
  • The Perma-SHIELD® coating covers the blade plate and cutting edge in a protective layer, reducing heat build-up
  • Perma-SHIELD® blades resist binding in large volume cutting, reducing subsequent blade warp. The coating lubricates the blade, allowing it to spin freely, and eliminates pitch and debris build-up on the blade
  • Unique side grind polishes the material to produce a superior finish
  • Thin kerf allows for easier feeding and reduced waste
  • Perma-SHIELD® Non-Stick Coating is a state-of-the-art coating formulation that is superior to any today, and will withstand the toughest woodworking applications. Like Silver I.C.E.™, Perma-SHIELD® eliminates pitch and debris build-up reducing down time for cleaning
  • Features Ti-Co™ Hi-Density Carbide Crosscutting Blend for maximum performance
  • Ships directly from the manufacturer.
  • Must be shipped within 48 Contiguous United States.
  • Estimated Delivery time: 10 business days.
  • 15% restocking fee on all returned merchandise.
  • Please call customer service before returning product.

Simply Amazing
Just cut through hard maple, walnut, alder, red oak, cherry, african mahogany, and pine like a champ while leaving the smoothest edge I've ever seen outside of a laser.

fine cuts
This blade leaves cuts very clean, close to what a 220 sanding would leave the cut. Glue able edge as is.

Slick saw!
This is a seriously clean cutting blade--leaves no tooth marks, and the cutoff could be finished right off the saw.

Excellant Blade
Based on little use so far, this blade is every bit as good as advertised. Of course, time will tell, however, I have owned the Freud equivalent Thin Kerf 40 tooth ripping blade for years and after much use, it still performs nicely.

Is this saw blade for crosscutting on miter saws only, or can it be used on table saws
Michael M on Mar 5, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Works great on my table saw! Look at teeth profile. The kerf bottom is not a 'square box'. If you're making very tight joints this will be an issue. Otherwise, clean cutting, quiet running. Worth the money.
What is the width of the kerf?
V S on Dec 25, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I measure the cut at 3/32". Careful, if using a rip fence on a wide piece it requires a special riffing blade. Pleased with it.
What is the difference between 80 tooth and 90 tooth thin kerf ultimate cut off blade? I cut mostly oak 1/2'' to 1'' thickness. Some oak plywood. Need to replace my compound sliding miter saw blade and want to get the right blade. Thanks
Matt J on Feb 9, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I use the RU74R on my table saw for my finish cuts. Normally I use the LU88R for normal crosscuts. For my sliding compound miter saw, I run with the LU91R even though it's only 72T because it is designed for miter saw use. Hope this helps.
Can this blade be used on a sliding compound miter? I only ask because there is another blade on here that says sliding miter specifically?
Kecin B on Aug 2, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I have used one on my Craftsman compound miter saw. My Rigid sliding compound miter saw manual says not to use a thin kerf blade because it can flex and catch the guard; a potential hazard for the operator. I asked Freud about that and they for obvious legal reasons had to say follow the manufacturer's manual. I had no problems with my Craftsman so I will probably mount it on my Rigid and just not be aggressive with my cuts.
I discovered one missing tooth on my general purpose 80 tooth blade. Ok to use?+ Send in for repair?
Thomas W on Oct 7, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Do not use it! Get it repaired first
